uploadfromtaptalk1463722855422.jpg Finally a freehand grind I'm happyish with. Plunges are less than 1/10" difference with minimal cleanup. This one will be purdy

Got my etcher put together today. Seems like it should work. I guess I'll find out when my stencils and solution show up Monday.

Couldn't sleep so I came out to the shop at 4:30 a.m and got this one finished up. I wasn't thrilled about purple but I think it actually looks pretty good.

I'd appreciate that. I can't see your email address from my phone for some reason. You could always just deliver them with that grinder lol.

Love that color combo bro! If you don't mind me asking, how difficult was your etcher to build? Worth it over buying one?

Some of what I finished up yesterday...

It was way too easy Josh. That's what has me concerned. I should know if it works in the next day or two. I'll let ya know.

Josh,
Purple is in Big! Not just with the Ladies. One thing I learned years ago is to let the customer decide, I had some of what I considered weird colors of handle material and almost didn't bring those to a Show I was doing locally with the Arts & Croissant crowd.

They were the first ones to sell and one lady order two more knives with this hideous Purple, black & pink synthetic material

Here is a custom order that I finished up. It's a chopper made from W2, 17.5" OAL. I did leather slab handles, with epoxy soaked hemp wrap. It chops well and the edge held up to my liking.

Hell's Half,

You are getting the pins too hot while finishing the handle. Grind & dunk every 5 seconds or so and you won't get those Halos around the pins.

Buy a toy train controller off of eBay. I was going to build one but at this price it isn't worth the trouble.

This thread has some info, I bought one and it works great, waiting on stencils and etching solution but did some test with nail polish as a resist and it definitely does everything you need.

Oh beautiful pair of knives!

I used the toy train controller but I couldn't get it to work. I ended up using an old battery charger

Mine works great, I need to make a pad and maybe a little switch box so I only have one set of leads, but it puts out both ac and dc current and the dc side is adjustable, not sure what else you would need.
