Thanks Dozier and Hengelo! I've been playing with using different colors of liners under the sheephorn as it often polishes up somewhat translucent. Recently I've used green, red (as pictured) yellow and black. Its very interesting to see how the different colors effect the horn. You can see in these how the red liners kinda gives a rosy tint to the horn.

Got one of mine in the OCT 2016 issue of Blade. Picture was take at The Art of Steel show in Little Rock this year.
4" Folding Hunter.

330 Yanagiba

finally finished this one up , i started it in march and it sat on the bench until i felt confident enough to grind it freehand , i originally tried with a board backing but it felt awkward so i discarded that idea , the front face i finished with a 5000gt stone leading into a convexed micro bevel and then sharpened from the rear to 8000gt.

i don't think i will be doing to many of these in the foreseeable future :)

The wife does all the flower carving and I do the basket and border stamping, brands, initials etc as well as the construction of the sheaths.

I made all the knives that went inside these guys too but don't have a group shot of all the knives. Here's a few individuals:

This is my Sonoran Hunter model and the only one I've ever done in dammy which was at the customers request and with customer supplied mammoth tooth.

Set of three Buckaroo models for one order. Sheephorn for the handles with red liners.

Set of three Cowboys that were donated to a ranch roping as prizes. Same as my Buckaroo model just out of AEB-l at 62RC instead of the dammy. Elk handles on these guys from local sheds. Working in big groups like this keeps me out of the bars I guess.

Dave,
Those Blades, Sheaths & carving are  Like that Blue Molar Scales!

Just finished those cute guys from 5mm O1 ( K460) steel hardened for ~62HRc with double temper at 175*C.

Test fitted my hunter blade with some scales to check balance. Nailed it.

Made this half tang mini cleaver with the remnants of a S30v bar and maple scale I used for the hunter. The stainless side of the scale also takes up the blade thickness to meet the wood scale. All the blades need heat treated which will give me a chance to finish the scales.
