Sharpest knife I’ve made so far. This thing is stupid.

I installed some better lighting in my main work areas. I have no idea why I waited so long to do this! Such a huge difference. I went with sunco lighting 5k 4’ linkable LEDs from amazon, so far so good.

Messed up the handle on this one bad enough that I needed to improvise, I went with a @Big Chris partial tang and it worked out great!

Oh my lord what did I get myself into! I’m trying to make my wife a kitchen knife, it’s patterned after our long time kitchen workhorse, a Victorinox Forschner. It’s going to get some nice walnut with orange liners and pins

So this one has been laying on my bench for like 6 months. I forged it out of 3/16" 80CRV2 and had a host of issues with warping and took me a few tries to get it to harden.

After staring at it for months I decided to throw it in lemon juice for a few days and slap a handle on it. A learning experience for me all around - now I'll use it in my shop and beat the snot out of it.

This is a hobby for me and so far I've been using a cheap harbor freight 1x30. I have not made many knives so far but they have improved greatly since I started. I have purchased a 2x72 grinder and I'm in the process of installing it. Over the weekend my middle son and I ran the 220V line to my work area in my garage with cut off. The grinder is mounted to my bench, I mounted the 3HP 3 phase motor a little too far back so I have to remount it closer so I can get belts on it... oops lol. Still waiting on the VFD to arrive so I can finish wiring it up and test it. Looking forward to having a real grinder to use, I purchased a glass platen, 10" and 4" serrated wheels to go with it. I really wanted a much nicer grinder than I ended up with but could only justify so much budget for a hobby. It is a huge step up from the 1x30 at least.

A skinner I have been working on for a friend. He has big hands and always complains that knives he can buy have too-small handles - so this handle is sized for him. AEB-L blade, brass bolster (with mosaic pins), and cocobolo handle. Also my first attempt at a sheath (I did not quite have the courage to use stamping tools on the leather.....). Still a few somewhat small things not quite "perfect" .... but I am please with how this one turned out.... (oh ... I burned the tip a little while grinding the bevel, hence the somewhat more severe drop to the tip than extended. I think I see a water cooling system in my future.....)

You don t need cooling system , you need to improve your grinding technique :) I don't know how you do it , but try this .........STOP with grinding before the blade tip reaches the middle of belt .
Nice knife , I like it
