Natlek, how do you loose a scale?
In my shop this days , easy .........:) Believe me , you don t want to see picture of inside of my shop . During the winter I started a lot of big projects, too much.Last month's rain fell almost every day so I can't bring anything out of shop, now it's inside like some amazon warehouse. It is somewhere , I will find it one day .Luckily i have template for this model so scale will fit next one .I searched for it for half an hour today ...nada /but found other loose things / and I make a new one in three minutes ...:D

My latest skinner in 80CRV2 and dyed and stabilized Jacaranda with dovetailed nickel silver bolsters. Just needs final polishing/wax, sharpening and a sheath of some kind, but I'm not sure what style to go with?IMG_2119.JPG IMG_2120.JPG IMG_2121.JPG

Almost done , what do you think ? I like it ....
For grinding/shaping scale i used short temporary pins , that way I can peen real one after gluing scale .On picture scale are glued , i will cut pins to protrude only 2mm from side and I will peen them .Then with chainsaw file ........Chainsaw file is fine and will barely catch on micarta or wood so it will not make any mess ...And again I forget to drill/grind some material from back side of scale .....heavy handle

Rich color, looks beautiful, great work :)

This is the first gyuto I ever made. I finished it a few weeks ago but only just got around to photographing it. It's a 216mm gyuto ground from 0.084" (2.1mm) AEB-L with a subtle distal taper and a faceted convex grind. The base of the visible blade in the choil photo is 0.065" thick at that point. I finished the blade longitudinally on a very fine scotch brite belt to give a satin finish. This is my favorite finish for a knife that I intend to use a lot because it hides scratches and is very easy to touch up. I made a 135mm long wa handle out of stabilized buckeye burl with an ebony ferrule, finished with tru oil.

Very nice work! In my opinion a beautiful buckeye is hard to beat. Maybe my favourite wood.
What was your grade of finish before the Scotchbrite belt?
