Best tempering oven I have used to date, once it comes up to heat the needle stays well within 5* F. It’s also the first convection oven I have used.

Dan - do you use a PID, or just the integral temperature control?

Acquired some grail level olllld rag micarta that is like a green rainbow. I've never seen anything like it! It looks like complex dyed burl when I polished up a tiny piece. I have enough for two folding knives, 4 if I attempt to split it (the pieces I have are .4 thick.) I also have a pretty good lead on potentially more.

Also don't forget about normal household ovens. Mine stays within 1 degree celcius of set temp. You can fit more stuff, and save space in total.

My new mini mill arrived today from Little Machine Shop.


Now I just need to get it off the pallet, inside, down the (carpeted) basement stairs (the table is coated with oil), and lifted onto my work bench.

MY back is not the best, recently hurt my shoulder, the thing weighs 120 pounds.

What could go wrong?

I got all the milling done on my mag chuck. I'm hoping to get it all drilled and tapped and mounted to the steel bed today. Also want to get the magnets epoxied in as well. Just for fun I stamped my makers mark into the billet.

Also made this electrical thingy with a cam-switch so the buff/strop motor gets to share VFD with the disc grinder.

This is my first attempt at acid etch + stonewash finish. Lots of room for improvement, I'm learning a lot.

It is a swedish made machine, by manufacturer Ejca, model SP 12. As far as I know the only 300 mm 3-phase disc sander made in Europe still. Has 1 hp motor. Cast iron throughout except for the aluminium disc.

But in retrospect I wish I bought a 400 mm one.

Isn't the sandpaper very expensive it that size?
Do you put it on with glue or velcro?

I've been looking in to a disksander in stead of a "real" belt grinder, but can't find any disks(9") in Europe that normal normal sheaths of sandpaper can be used on.
I find the standard purpose made sandpaper for the disks I can find very expensive.
