What's in a name?

My Handle comes from my time in the ARMY!
I was a Calvary Scout! In the 1st Calvary Division
at Ft. Hood Tx. Baker is my last name, g2g is green 2 green
When talking over the radio you don't say things that the enemy
can understand! I'm sure most of you knew that!
green 2 green means, good to go! Everybody is
in postion! and We are green 2 green at this time!
We would find the enemy and report, the
size, activity, location, uniform, time and element! We were
always green 2 green!!

i love it. go usa army

I found this thread casually, and even if it's very old, I thought it might be nice to bring it back...and of course tell u about my name. Also, maybe some other "recent" forumite like me will want to tell us about his own.
I'm Italian, but I belong to a part of Italy with a strong cultural identity (as islands often are) and a very old tradition in knifemaking too. So when I got here, I thought it might be nice to choose a name that somehow represented the place where I come from. And that probably sounds even better in the traditional subforum.
So "quattromori" (or quattro mori, as it's 2 words) is the name of the flag of my island. It's undoubtedly one of the most common flags among those that do not represent any country, and Sardinianas are proud to bring it out when the opportunity comes. It's the four moors flag:

Campbellclanman..
I use this because I was named after my great uncle Duncan Campbell, Unfortunately Uncle Duncan drank himself to death after coming home from the war, its a shame we cant go back to help the many poor souls who did just that...managed to survive through hell, then came home to continue the battles.
I have a few things of his, my father sold Duncans war medals, and I do remember begging my dad not to do this-as I was only very young, but they meant so much to me, but he sold them anyway
He was apparently a very good man, and I have a large portrait of him in uniform...a bloody good looking man...I wish I got to meet him, but the times are against us there.
I am quite proud of my Scottish Heritage, although to this date I havent researched it, so this is on my list.

I'm not sure how I missed this either. My name is Wade A. Martin. I've used bass_singer and bass_singerMartin other places but chose to use WA Martin after being encouraged to use my real name elsewhere. I also added the Wade to my sig line, I think after Elliot encouraged us to do so so we would know who we were speaking with.
I've also used an old postal code from when I lived in Calgary for a bit. WA Martin just seems so much easier.

Wow I don't remember seeing this thread either! When I went to register on BF I hit the wall on a number of names I would have preferred, including my first name, Gary. Peregrin is a title from an online game that I started playing with my sons many years ago. I always liked the title. It was also a characters name in JR Tolkien's Lord of the Rings (Peregrin Took, aka Pippin).

I like others, missed the thread. When I started spending too much time on the internet on forums like this, I was living in Hong Kong. I worked at Kai Tak airport, then the new airport, Chek Lap Kok. Being too lazy to thing of something clever, I chose CLK. I use this on a few forums I frequent.

I somehow missed this one, too. This is a great thread.

As echoed by others here, my forum name is a reflection of what was on my mind when I signed up. At that time, it was more folly than anything else. Sort of shook my head and laughed a bit, when it came to mind. But, there it was. I was anxious to learn more, and had been 'lurking' anonymously for a while prior to signing up. The more I've hung around, the more I've learned. The more I learned, the more I wanted to know. The name I created then has become self-fulfilling, but it still makes me laugh a little inside. Doesn't quite seem like it fits me, otherwise. I am just 'David' or 'Dave' to myself, my family and my friends.

Very interesting thread, sheds more light on some of the more interesting names. Mine is just my first and last name, I like to keep things simple :) Mike

David, as u may remember, I joked with ur nickname the first time u answered me on a thread...I don't know if it fits u, but it sure does fit this forum
...and I was sure that Peregrin was no falcon or hawk, and it come from LOTR....

In that sense, it does sort of fit me. My automatic tendency has always been to try to 'blend in', wherever I happened to be. When I was in Navy boot camp way back when, the guys who didn't call attention to themselves usually stayed out of trouble with the company commander. I knew I'd done pretty well when, about 6 weeks into the 8-week-long process, my company commander looked me in the eye during a personnel inspection and asked, "Who are you? Have I seen you before?". It's all about blending in, I guess. :p

Mine is my initials combined with my call sign at the time I registered.

LWT and Tango 210.

lwt210 in lower case to keep from having to hit shift/speedier typing.

Regards.

i really thought I read everything since I joined but that's what I get for thinking. My name is what I am....used to use it on a radio handle back in the 80's(sort 0f between 10 and 11 meters if you're familiar). I'm retired/disabled after a long law enforcement career with a whole of other unusual occupations.
This forum is truly unique and I am quite happy to be amongst you all. Have great day...Herb

My name is pretty simple, I manage a ranch in the Texas panhandle and my first name is Ben. Wish I'd have thought to use my brand like rafterp but oh well.
Have a great day fellas. Ben

Mine is the initials of the style and color and year of my edc. I have a second edc now. Anyway it is "pocket worn caribbean blue 2005". Its a 2005 trapper made by case.

Real name is Paul
