whats the most you ever paid for a knife?

Exotic materials, big name Custom-Maker, aesthetics, fit and finish......it's different for each person. I personally like the fondling factor: something in the appearance and fit and finish that makes me unable to keep my hands off it. We are speaking about knives, right..

Some of you guys must be in MUUUUUUUUUUUCH better financial positions than I ever would LIKE to be in........

2-3k on a knife? And don't get me wrong..... I know how it is, I'm a musician and honestly, sometimes the $4,000 Les paul truly sounds and feels incredible..... But lets be honest, What makes a $2,000 knife that much better than say a GOOD $500.00 knife? Visual joy? Again, not trying to insult just trying to understand where the extra value comes in.

$127 for a Bench made 5270 and that was with an LE discount. That was also an exception for me. I haven't spent more than 80 on a knife since.

2 1/2 year old thread back from the dead!

For me, it's a three-way tie at right around $60 each. One was a Kershaw Black Blur, the second a Spyderco Delica4 FFG black FRN, and the third a Case Sway Back Jack Chestnut Bone CV.

The knife I paid most for was the Spyderco PM2 for 175 € which are roundabout 233 US$ over here.

That was the most I paid for a knife until now...

$40.
Almost spent $100 one time on a gerber mark I in SV30, but I kept lookin at my bank account and decided.... nah...
On that note I need a better job lol... preferably in a different state with better wages!

The most cash I have spent on a knife is around $1000 for an all ti xm-18 3.5 flipper. I did trade my custom 1911 Ed brown which cost me $3,500 for a custom one of a kind ken onion flipper, and I got the better deal.

new to knives just picked up zt 0561 blem for kershawguy @ 175$ doubt ill spend over 500$ ever on a knife unless it was to end a collection/last knife to own and even then I dont think it could be for much use other than just admiring it

EDIT: to silentjohn the zt0561 is what I consider to be my first knife and right now I have the idea to collect 5 different watch/knife combos from different companies w/ different colors, blade steels, looks etc. I have a casio limited mudman gw9300er-5jf on its way to go with the 0561 for a tan color hopefully they will match well. After that I plan to get an orange, black/carbon fiber, green, and blue sets including d2, m390, 154cm, and s30v steels from benchmade, spyderco (still figuring out others) then be done. So Im sure Ill go over the top at some point but Im sure it will be all worth it I really do enjoy the finer things.

nate, thats exactly was my spyderco szabo is. a knife to end my collection. now i am sure i will eventually buy another but it wont be for years

I've been really lucky with buying knives and getting them far under cost.

The most expensive knife I've bought is the Microtech Select Fire for $210, and I also got my ZT 0301 for $210. I also managed to pick up a ZT 0560 from a forum member here for $150.

So far, $600 for my XM. I have an order on the books with Walter Randolph that will cost at least 700 bones. Unless I get something more expensive before then, that will top everything else.

Im pretty sure most of us have said that at one point early on lol, I said the same thing. But after you spend 175, you see one that is 250 that you really like and you think, "its only $75 more than X knife." and then you see one for 325 etc.... It builds.

The most I have personally spent on one is $795 for an XM-18 (which I sold). But I have bought and traded and sold thousands worth.
