My Emerson Combat Karambit was second in edge but #1 in tip sharpness. I was playing with the wave feature while driving (I know, stupid), and before I knew it it went through my jeans, boxers, and 1/4" into my leg without feeling it.
Kershaw Turbulence. After carrying it for just two days the thing opened in my pocket and as I went to close it, the damn thing skinned the side of My index finger. I didn't even realize I'd been cut until I pulled my hand out of My pocket and saw the blood.
I usually feel like edges are "OK" out of the box. The Spyderco knives I've had have come with decent edges. The ZTs have been OK. I haven't felt the need to change the edge before the first touch up.
The Payara was so sharp, and had such a great finish that I couldn't bring myself to use it. I cut paper with it and saw the sharpness that way, but I couldn't bring myself to really use it. Ultimately traded out of it.
a Kellam knife, from their Wild Finn series, the Wolverine, in SPT laminated carbon steel, seems the entire blade and edge were forged in the fires of Muspellheim.
As for a folder, a Buck 110 50th anniversary edition...the edge sticks to your fingers. Even better after I stropped her on some BRKT white compound, like a laser.
Yep. Doesn't get much sharper than a brand new Rockstead
The day I got my old Shin ZDP I actually shaved with it. Not the best geometry for it, but it was still one hell of a clean shave
I miss that knife a lot...but a good friend of mine loves it ever since he bought it from me, so I guess it's all good. I don't really want to shell out that kind of money again though
