What's your dream 5-7" wilderness blade?

3/8" is crazy! Tom is one of the guys I'm talking too about my "perfect" knife, which is why I started this thread. I used to be just right down the road from him! Now I'm 2300 miles away. Great gun, and amazing quality.

Another great knife would be his Beast model with a clip point blade instead of a bowie swedge. Are you going to get something from him? (pics are an order if you are! :D)

I had forgotten about the Beast. Tom and I are emailing back and forth about working out a design, it could be a new model, or a modification of an existing.

I'd really like something with no guard or choil, slight forward cant, and a roughly 8" blade. Less than that doesn't make it worth a chopper.

HI Kumar Karda? :D

I could really see one of these in a 6" - 8" in 1/4" O1 with thumb treads. My 4" HWK+ is doing the job for now though.

Yup, that was the whole point in designing the HWK+. It is a knife that is adaptable to any size from 5 - 8 inches.

I am glad to hear that you are enjoying your HWK!

Uhh. Pics please.;)

Excuse the crappy pics. Just got home from work and coming down off a contact adhesive high. Plastic laminate work in a closed room:barf::thumbdn:.
Anyhow, just a comparison of the Laconico HWK+ and a Busse Sarsquatch.

I just made it up the other day and so far so good. It has a blade length of
5" and is 1" and 3/16" wide and is 5/32" thick. I am going to make up another one with a 6" blade. With this and my axe

that I got from Brian Andrews, I am good to go I think.

Since I got 2 axes from Brian I just have to make up a knife for that other axe too LOL . I really like th upswept blade and the way the knife comes to a point. the drop point look has a good over all look to, but I just like this
blade shape the best.

Hurry up and make the 6" blade, then tell us why you like which one better!

Very cool. Man that HWK is sweet. I cant wait for mine to get here. Did you get kydex from Ray for it?

Hows it treatin you overall man. You liking it?

I'm surprised no one mentioned a Busse skinny-ash. I love mine and think that it fits what you are looking for. 6.5" blade. 3/16" thick and the blade is nice and wide on it. The knife feels great in the hand. It is relatively light and quick in the hand for its size and certainly plenty tough. Sorry no pics my I need to get a new battery for my camera:grumpy: If someone could help me out by posting a pic of the skinny ash I would appreciate it.

Agreed that the ASH-1 (Skinny or LE) is a superb knife. My LE (pretty much the same blade as the skinny, just satin finished) is somewhere above with some HR's.

Here's another (typical Busse ;) ) picture of it:
