What's your dream 5-7" wilderness blade?

I came back to this thread and realized that I hadn't posted this one

Breeden Custom with 5 inch blade.

Man that is a tough one. I'm tied between my HI R-10 and my new Koyote Wilderness model 1. Both of these are 5 inch blades. From experience I've forund that the 5 inch is the best all around blade length for the most utility outdoors. anything longer has diminished returns hwen ya get into bushcrafting and fine work. I do however carry a larger chopper to take care of those tasks either an axe, hatchet, kukri.

I`ve been using this one for a couple of weeks, and it seems to be working out for me. 5 1/4" blade of 3/16" 1095.

I'm not sure what it's called, but Mr. Breeden is making it now. :D

5.5" inch bushcrafter with micarta handles. (I'll post up when I get it!)

Great! I love to see pic of Bryan's knives.

BTW, great avatar!

I've got a very cool entry into this thread that I ought to get my hands on in a few days, John is already familiar with it. :D

Seems I usually jump from a 4" - 4-1/2" blade to a 7" - 9" blade when I need something larger (during light weight pack-in hunts minus the axe). Not that I don't have plenty of 6" blades, I just find carrying two different knives at the opposite end of the scale serve my needs best when deep in the bush.

The large Roselli Trapper (Sami "stuorra niibi" or Finnish "leuku") has been my choice for several years. This knife has seen countless wilderness trips throughout the Pacific Northwest and Canada, and it has been just an excellent firewood and game processor knife. The Roselli Trapper is convex-ground (really holds a dandy edge) and warm, easy, highly efficient to work with.

i have wanted a Ricky Fowler survival knife for a long time now...:o i don't think Ricky is making knives much these days, so they're getting fairly hard to come by...:(
i know that Brian Goode is making a knife very similar to this one called his "to the woods" knife... it looks really nice...

i would love to get one of these knives... except i'm having a hard time finding one... i don't think that ricky is making them anymore...:(

brian goode's interpretation of it, is really nice... i might have to start saving my pennies for one of those instead...

many thanks to this forum and one of our awesome forum members.... i just might be able to get my dream Ricky Fowler survival knife... i'm keeping my fingers crossed, we're still trying to work it out... i'll keep you all posted...

I think I would also like to find something with a 6" blade, the benchmade CSKII is out with 1095, the Rat RC 6 also fits the bill. Man onthers, RD7, New BK7's, But 119 is a classic and works great, good ol' ka-bar USMC model.

Its hard to say indefinitely, but I've got an RC6 coming from KGD tomorrow that Im gonna review, I think that would be the one for you.

Some more favorites.

I have been giving this topic a lot of thought lately.

Though I have many fine knives in this category, my search for just the right wilderness knife continues.

Recently I took stock of the features that I find desirable in this type of knife; being a big guy I like a good size blade, a drop point with a decent point, some belly and a slight recurve fit my style, and a contoured handle with an integral guard.

It will feature a full convex geometry suitable for chopping with a thinner edge just in front of the ricasso for more delicate tasks.

I am currently working on crafting a blade to meet my perceived needs.

Here’s a drawing of the blade that I have started to grind.
