What's your survivla knife??

So far I would with my Victorinox OHT or LM wave for a light package. For a FB it would be my Rat-7.

Benchmade Fixed Griptillian, OHT, Ritter Steel Dusac knife, Green River Kit knife, Ka-Bar all make great survival knives.

try a bob dozier professinal guide knife. It is tough, sharp, and can be used to cut branches for shelter, etc. you can whack the blade with a baton for splitting wood also. you can shave with this blade as well. A.G.Russell loves dozier knives.

In town, a Boker Trance or BM Griptilian in my pocket and a Leatherman Wave in my pack.

In the woods, a Fallkniven F1 or SAK Outrider.

Then there are the other three dozen bits to make sure I make the round trip.

It ain't just the knife (repeat often) :)

Seal Pup Elite maybe? Still a nice all-round knife. I like the look and feel of many of SOG's knives. They could stop punching "SOG" holes in some of their items-- butt ugly IMHO.

If SOG would make some flat ground knives rather than the hollow ground, they could walk away with the survival/woodcraft market. That and never make a sheath like the one for the Field Pup :barf:

I take a couple of knives around with me most of the time.

I almost always have a 3.5 - 4 inch mora on me, particularly at work. Away from work I usually carry a Gene Ingram Lacer that I really like. That's probably a 2.5 inch blade.

I also have a ten year old Kershaw folder that lives in my pocket.

Those are my realistic survival knives. I do have a scrapyard guard, but rarely take it anywhere and am not particularly thrilled with it.

In the bush I have an axe with me as well.

I would post pics but the usual model is so hungover today she won't get out of bed. She managed to drink a glass of ginger ale an hour ago, and that's as close to upright as I think she's getting today!

This is the one I carry. Along with my Leatherman Surge or Charge and a pocket chainsaw.

Always have my leatherman juice on me, and whenever I'm in the woods i have the mora 760 on my belt. I have to make a new sheath, I'm worried this one may fall apart on me.

Hahahah, yeah, typo on my part. The sheath I have is the nylon version, which works well for me.

If it was an urban survival situation, I would have my large KaBar TDI knife with tan scales, my Buck/Strider 889 with black scales, and my Leatherman Kick.

If I'm outside city limits, I'll have my USMC KaBar in place of the TDI knife.

And if i'm in a vehicle, I'll have all of that. (TDI knife, 889, and Leatherman on me, with USMC KaBar riding shotgun.

leatherman pst. smith and wesson linerlock. Used to carry a Gerber EZ out in place of the smith. First production run of 500. Lost it in an attic. that hurt. Now i carry the smith (downright inexpensinve) and from using it at work it is so second nature to get it out and open it, I carry it after work hours also. In woods, normally leatherman, swiss champ and Gerber tac-2.

My normal EDC includes a Small classic Seb, and a Leatherman Charge.
The Seb would definitely be my go to knife for most tasks - has to be the most comfortable knife I have ever used.

If I had the opportunity to grab a fixed blade as well, right now, it would most likely be the Scrapyard Yard guard - was a little bit of work re-profiling it down to give me the cutting ability I needed, but now that it's there - I feel Ok with leaving the Gransfors Wildlife hatchet at the casa.
This hunting season though will prove whether or not it will stay in the rotation.

If it does not work out, I'll stick with the Busse Basic 5 unitl further notice.

Today, I have a Benchmade/emerson CQC7 in my pocket and a Busse Mud Razor, Leatherman PST2 and BRK&T Fox River in my day bag.

Re: Field Pup sheaths. I just visted the SOG web site and the Field Pup now has a decent nylon sheath rather than that leather and kydex Frakenstien they used to offer.
