Which Busse to send Joe X?

420hc if cooked well is extremely tough. Same level as A8mod, 3v.
I might be wrong but I think you mean tensile strength? In my experience 420hc has great tensile strength comparable to high toughness steels but edge stability of Infi and 3v are in another league. 420hc is great if you keep a sharpening stone with you though!

Toughness. 420hc is up there with 3v and A8mod(infi)

From what I’ve seen, there IS a reason with Joe X (unlike people like “Whistlin’ Diesel” on YouTube who literally destroys expensive trucks for fun ☹️). He’s trying to see how much abuse different knives can take in an extreme situation (you’re trying to get through the roof of a car to rescue someone for instance).

I’d prefer if the testing was more consistent/scientific, but until there are other people (like Noss 🤘) doing that, I’ll watch this guy and gather what information I can...

It's funny you mentioned Whistlin' Diesel. I put him and Joe X in the same "douche" category...can't seem to enjoy watching either.

I don't necessarily have an issue with some of the "destruction" stuff. However, for me, there's a limit as to what I need to see a knife do. Haven't watched him in a bit, but actually used to enjoy "Mayor Fuglycool's" vids. When I first started considering some large/robust knives as a replacement for my "camp hatchet", some of Fuglycool's vids actually talked me into purchasing a couple.

I kinda' looked around but didn't find this. It appears that nobody posted it. So, here it goes...

*As I stated, I really don't watch the guy. However, I reckon because I watch so many knife reviews that his stuff comes-up in my feed.

I just sunk a few beers while watching dear comrade wear himself out destroying that blade and enjoyed every second of the show. What he did to the car door was something I hadn’t seen before.

Glad you enjoyed it. I thought someone here might be interested.

Like I posted, I don't watch his stuff much. However, I know I've seen him chop thru the door pillars and window frames, I just can't remember what vid that was.

In the few vids that I have watched, it appears (*at least to me) that he goes HARD on some blades and "sandbags" just a bit on others. It's pretty subtle. However, if you watch closely, you might see it. (*For all the JoeX fans, please don't send a lynch mob to get me. That's just my humble opinion)

As far as the DT-12, I can personally attest to the toughness of that blade. I've been simply blown-away by mine... (*I do, however, wish that they'd come with the "Regulator" handles from Day One)

Knice!!! 👍 . . . . Awesome tests!

I love to see our knives getting the kind of love they were designed for . . .

I need to send this man some INFI ! ! ! :)

Let's Drink!

Jerry :)

Pardon my French, but this ^^^ is why I LOVE your shit.

Not many knife Makers tell you, "I ENCOURAGE you to beat on my stuff."

I abandoned my "camp hatchets" and "Sportsman's axes" years ago, and just went all-in on robust knives. I haven't regretted that move, and have never looked back. I grab from established wood piles at a lot of remote locations. (*South Texas Farms and Ranches) For me, a large/robust knife has become a much safer option than swinging an axe when I'm all alone out in the "middle of nowhere". If I bled myself out at some of the places I find myself, they might not find my predator-stripped skeleton for months. I'm a fat guy, and my blood is probably damn-near "Type 2" sweet. If I were a steak, I'd be a Ribeye. I reckon my carcass would make for some "good eatin'" for the coyotes, bobcats, and feral hogs.

As far as the "INFI' thing, yeah, you need to send "Commando McDouche" a FAT ASH. (*Beyond that, another run of that blade would give all of us a chance at one)

Just sayin'...

I think this speaks loudly on how strong res-c tangs are.

In more than 25 years of testing and producing Res-C Handles with our hidden, radiused tangs, we have never had a blade fail at the tang or along the tang.

. . . Well, that is until that wild man Joe shot it to pieces! . . . Ha Ha! :) :)

Check out the new Swamp Rat Free Rein videos and note that we simply slipped a pipe over the Res-C handle for the vise bend tests. That puts the majority of the stress between the end of the tang and the front of the tang! . . . ZERO FAILURES!

Let's Drink!

Jerry

Just watched a couple of his videos. That guy is going to stab himself to death one day.

Yup.

I'm not much for the gory stuff, but watching that clown impale himself on a Fat ASH might be worth my time.

Just sayin'...

Save your money, if Noss was able to break every Busse and Bussekin he d-tested, Joe will do it just the same way.
They're not even remotely similar.
Noss used his 5lb hammer through most of his testing, Joe X is almost entirely limited to forces generated by hand movement.
I was very surprised that SR101 snapped on impact the way it did because in the old NOSS videos most of those knvies didn't fail until he was pounding on the blade with the mallet to shear through iron bars.

... That guy wouldn't know a great outdoor tool if it bit him on the ass...
You may have noticed we're on the Busse "COMBAT" forum, not the "Busse Great Outdoor Tools" forum.

We've spoken before, Dave...and share some similarities in our backgrounds.

My maternal Grandfather was a dirt-poor Farmer, and I watched him save EVERYTHING he had or found...from nuts & bolts, to lumber, to steel, etc.

To see that clown destroy perfectly useful and wonderful tools makes me want to vomit. Again, a spoiled and entitled society we've become.

You must go into convulsions and black out for the rest of the day every time SpaceX has an unscheduled rapid disassembly.

Some things can only be learned by destructive testing.

The knife manufacturers all do destructive testing but never post the results.
If users want to know the results of destructive testing then we are forced to destroy the blades ourselves.
