Which knife that you own came with the sharpest blade?

I always find this question a bit hard to answer due to the subjectivity of my own judgment of such a subjective topic and the vagaries of my memory.

Two that come immediately to mind are there due to a recent trade with "leatherman" but are near the top regardless of the time factor. The edge on the MT SOCOM Elite that now resides here at my right hand is exceptional and holds the lead at this time while the Buck PCKS 110 Damascus that now resides at his house is very near to if not its equal.

I have been impressed with the edges on all of the knives in my experience from both Microtech and the Buck PCKS 110s with either BG-42 or Damascus blades.

My sharpest knives have been my MT SOCOM Elite, believe it or not my leatherman waves's clip point is awesome! My spyderco calypso, and my MT Option II are both good to go also.:D My wife just reminded me of how sharp my kershaw chive , and scallion are , and they are easy to resharpen to a great edge. My old safekeeper II , and LTC Kukri are also razors. Oh man and I can't leave out my cold steel SRK.:o

I'm not much up on production knives but... The Emerson Persian is a sharp SOB. I'm ompressed. I have a few Spydie Wegners ans they are pretty impressive.

Custom wise Jimmy Fikes is the winner. Hands down. Gary Graley really summed it up and added some good links. My Hartsfields are sharp but my Fikes are sharper. I carried a Fikes for a couple of years and it cut alot of different materials and never really lost its edge. G2
tuned it up for me and it was close to new sharp.

Sharp is only good if the edge geometry is right. I'd trust a Fikes or a Hartsfield anywhere. Tough knives and neither uses a "miracle"
steel.

The absolute sharpest I recieved straight from the box was the Spyderco Calypso Jnr Lwt. The second sharpest was the Spyderco Lum Chinese Folder.

Of course it doesn't hurt that they are both flat ground and VG-10.

The Buck Hunter from Mr. Bob Dozier came to me the sharpest of any knife I've owned. D2 steel & hollow ground..... my .02 of course. :D

Production: MT Socom Elite or the MT Amphibian (even SHARPER, if that's possible)

Semi-Production: Chris Reeve Sebenza

Custom: Darrel Ralph EDC in 420V

Sharpest knives out of the box: Al Mar Sere 2000 and any Spyderco
Sharpest knife from a maker: Robert Dockrell

I use a Norton Tri-Hone setup, free hand stuff, along side that you can see the blue boxes, those are Spyderco flat ceramic stones as well.
I'm in the background with a beard and my hand on my hip...about 50 pounds heavier and with facial hair back then!

Phil Baldwin is sharpening a sword that he just forged at the Ashokan Seminar, which is coming up the third weekend of Sept in Ashokan NY...

Good stones and technique work every time, I won't put a pakistani knife to my stones as the just load it up! ;)

I own a lot of knives, but the sharpest was a CRKT Mirage with a warncliff blade. I was use to using a spyderco that had a fairly large ricasso, so I would "choke" up on the blade a bit when I used it upside down and put my thumb on the ricasso. Well, the first time I did it to the Mirage I put a 1 inch very deep cut on my thumb that took several weeks to heal.
My seccond choice is Kershaw I got a few of their knives and all of them were like razors.

Greetings,

I use the Lansky system with diamond hones. Start with the coarse hone to set the bevel and go through the rest for a nice edge.

When I sharpen a knife by hand, I sharpen only one bevel from the strong side or the side with which I have the best control, then touch the other side to remove the feather edge. Bearpaw

Yet another vote for Spydies.
Only thing that equalled them out of the box was a ceramic blade Boker Infinity.

I mentioned that my Spyderco Lum Chinese was the sharpest out of the box blade that I own....WRONG!!!

I just received a full sized Spyderco Calypso PE that literally sliced a small chunk of skin and flesh off of my fingertip while I was polishing the blade(OUCH!!!). So sharp that I didn't feel a thing until I saw the blood flowing.

Stupid me...I won't ever do THAT again!!! :o

Until 3 weeks ago, I would have said any one of my Sebenzas.
But now I must say, without a doubt, My Microtech Socom Elite with S90-V Blade.

I cut myself taking My Busse CG Mojo out of the box!...Scary Freakin sharp...

Spyderco Native in CPM 440v, MOD Tempest...both hair shaving sharp, but my Busse's continue to come with wickedly sharp edges...

My sharpest was also a VG10 Spyderco. My Shabaria, with my Chinese folder a close second.

Well I was going to loan my Scott Cook knife to a friend this week so I wanted it to be nice and newly sharp and let me tell you that S30V can take a MEAN edge! It now can trim tree top cutting of the hair and push cut like nobodies business! Very impressed with the edged attained with this steel!

Again, that was done free hand on my set of Norton Sharpening stones, ending up on the India stone and lastly onto a strop...

Good stuff!

THOUGH I also needed to skive some leather, trim to a lesser thickness..., and used a Cold Steel Kiridashi that my Friend the Professor gave me when we met in Baltimore, now that sucker is just some high carbon steel but is chisel ground and WHEW is that baby sharp! YIKES, I had forgot JUST how sharp a chisel edge really is! no comparison to dual bevel edges what so ever! had to share that...feel better now! ;)
