Who still carries a Case Knife?

Question,
On this case stockman, the jigging (that’s the term for those little grooves right?) actually protrudes into the bolster on one side. I doesn’t annoy me but I’m curious, is the jigging done with the scales mounted on the knife, or is it a result of some sort of press fitting of the bolster or something?

If you're referring to the tiny divot or rolled edge on the bolster where the open part of the jigging is, I've always figured that came from the fit up and polishing of the scales and the bolster. The bolster and scale are ground until flush and then polished--the open area in the jigging allows the grinding/polishing media to flex into the relatively soft bolster material just enough to remove a slight amount of material from the edge of the bolster where the "hole" in the jigging is.

In my mind it's something that points to the fact that it took a human touch to make this knife. Love Case's jigging.

Oh man, these are some nice knives you all are posting! I especially like the Copperheads, my Copperhead is one of my favorite knives to use. They are a great size, I love the sunk joint and bolster guard, and the blades are a really nice combo. Mine is a stainless model with antique corn cob jigging. :)

The red one I posted a couple of days ago is my first Case Copperhead. I’m pretty happy with it so far. Carries nice in the pocket but feels like a serious user in the hand. I’m already thinking about using it to field dress next winter’s deer.

For those that appreciate a good copperhead, here's a "New Grind". Case did the "New Grind" (look at the tang) in the latter half of 1983, all of 1984, and the first half of 1985, then dropped it. I guess it was like New Coke. OK, now I'm dating myself. You youngsters never had to go through the pandmonium that was "New Coke". If it had happened in the rapid dissemination of misinf.., I mean information...in the internet age, it would have been the end of civilization as we know it. But I digress. Anyway, I this one is an '83.

Heres my Copperheads, a 1973 and 2021. I love the jigging and color of the 2021, it'd probably get a lot of pocket time if it were CV steel. The 73 is just jigged delrin and is a real nail breaker with crazy snap. Great pattern.

I’ve been carrying a trio of cases for the last few days. I changed my belt knife from a buck 110 and replaced it with the folding hunter. The 75 pattern stockman is the constant. But for the watch pocket... I’ve been carrying the Sod Buster jr I won in the GAW from Bloodloss Bloodloss

You can really see the mottling of my 75 in the direct sunlight.
