On topic, I find cutting a banana patinas a knife very quickly. Main blade of this swayback jack cut one banana.

I just ordered about 14 or more knives today..most of them will be here in a few days..I'm so excited..can't wait! one of them is a really nice Case!

I'd be excited too. :D HAPPY BELATED GROUNDHOG DAY. You see... any excuse will do. Oh I forgot, Valentines Day is this week..... how could I? Actually already have gotten flowers for my wife and the other stuff is saved for VD.

The weather was pretty moderate in my area yesterday and I was cleaning out the behind the seat area of my pickup. Gosh. You wouldn't believe what was back there. Clothes, couple first aid kits, 5 boxes of disposable gloves, three or four rolls of paper towels..... the list is quite lengthy actually. Found pens that were probably 10 years old stashed back there. Trashed them. If you don't KNOW something is there for the using, it might was well not be there at all. Anyway, I have always said that I didn't own a Peanut...... Guess what? I found one!! It is a Western brand with dark jigged bone scales. It has a substantial patina on the blades (and dirt). Going to have to clean it up a bit. My score of the day!

Post pics of that Peanut when you get it cleaned up!

Congrats! Use them and enjoy! So what's this I should be prepared for an earthquake? I live in SF, we get em all the time. If God loves me, why's he trying to kill me?!

More curious about the video about economic collapse. You state that you have high friends in the govt, why would they be talking to you about their FB habits. FB was a govt co-opted program for data collection. I see no relevancy to how that will be our economy's demise. What facts or articles do you have to support this basis? I just speak from the issue as it is a field of my expertise. You realize you mistated some very clear facts that could endanger people. Just curious to see how other people think is all.

Women are probably the inventors of the first knives just as much as men were since the achulean hand axe, so I'm not sure what's new about ladies and knives.

Haven't heard the prepper side from a feminine example, sorry Red, my fault for lack of context, a mind in two threads at once.

You must have some info I don't because to most of this post I gotta say... lol wut?

Stuff about the "impending collapse" or the end of the world as we know it (social collapse) is mostly a political topic.

Oh, okay. Haven't seen her on YouTube so I did not know this. Thanks mate.

Yea my fail, not trying to start stuff, the other one is closed now. I'm just curious about the lady's perspective as to what should be prepared for in terms of blades, she's got 14 on the way! Knife nerd aside I saw the other stuff and was curious how that ties into her overall survival strategy, not just the kit, but that's my fault for trying to do more than one thing at once this morning without coffee. :foot:

No worries bro. I am not really a survivalist but I wouldn't mind 14 knives on the way.

I don't really care about the videos she has posted on her web site. Lots of things we do are about self promotion in one form or another. I have been told that I do too little of that where it counts (business). I'm also interested how these knives fit with the rest of what she has or are they just a bunch of knives that caught her eye/interest. Perhaps the survival thing might go into one of the Outdoors forums where topics like this are discussed.

For my part, I enjoy it when a new interest like knives surfaces and I like to see how it develops. Most of us have probably posted or at least read threads about "how we got our knife interest" which I find interesting. There seems to be a commonality of exposure to knives depending on your age or generation.

If a female wants to take up an interest in knives, more power to her. Like several have already pointed out in this thread though, most guys nowadays don't carry knives either; and most of the ones who do couldn't appreciate the difference in quality between a high-end midtech and a junker from a truckstop bargain bin. Knife nuts may be the majority here on the forums, but we're a pretty small subset of the population as a whole. Fresh blood (male or female) that shares in our interests and hobbies can only be a good thing, my $.02.

Thanks..I had no idea you could do that with a potato! Cool! Yeah, as I just mentioned here in another reply, I purchased a TON of knives today..one is a Case that's very sweet..and some of them have the types of blades (Carbon) that will patina nicely!
Cool, pics please!

I don't mean to crash the thread, but I've noticed a bit of a double-standard here...

No one has told you what an awful defensive weapon knives are, how easily someone will take them from you, and that you should get a gun instead. That's generally the standard reply when mentioning a knife and anything defense related around here...

I wonder why

My high-school girlfriend likes knives. Her first was an OG Kabar long ago. She has a Spyderco Endura somewhere. I bought her a Leatherman Raptor for Christmas. To not be corny I didn't get her a knife for Valentine's day, but I'll sent her a Paramilitary in a week or so. ツ

Wow, someone is on par to have the highest post count on BF. Should only take a few more days lol.

I don't usually care for modern knives, but that little brown one is very nice!

"Little Brown one" LOL :D I guess it must be due to the perspective, but that little knife looks like a ZT 0561, which may be small compared to the Lile-style knife next to it, but is really quite large.

I'll add, "Welcome to Bladeforums" as well.
