World War I Navy Issue Knife

I think red is my favorite!

On the bail, does the pin go all the way through, or are there short pins to just the liner? I don't have an old or new version to reference!

On my Camillus, the bail-pin goes all the way through. The kick keeps the edge off the pin.

I was emailed this yesterday.

Then I saw this had updated last night.

I have incoming today, but not those...yet. [emoji41]

I say this a lot, but...looks like GEC knows how to do real bone jigging now, in the style that I like it. Because I missed out on this run, I hope they continue to do this jigging pattern on other models!

Wow! Those are truly impressive. Wow. Just wow.

As it was pointed out to me and it's hard to see when you look at those knives. There will be knives with and without shields.

I'm thinking without shields makes them look more true to form. What do you guys/gals think?

The original issue knives didn't have shields, and that is why I asked Bill to make the knives without. I do like the Damascus version with a shield however. As a deluxe package, especially with that engravable banner shield, somehow just fits!

So the shield on the Lone Star's Rope knife can be engraved nicely enough to be called a banner? Making sure I'm inferring correctly...

So glad yours won't have them, I don't like branding on knife handles and barely shields.

Long straight-sided shields were often added to provide a place for engraving. "Banner" is just a convenient term.
It's strange that there is a pile-side shield visible on Great Eastern's site!

Thanks for that answer.

Yeah, I'm at a little bit of a loss myself. Whatever, your knives and all these #15 Rope Knives variants have me excited. Yours have some really nice touches. I will probably have a hard time carrying anything else until I rotate through these rope knives.

They're here and my periodical is spot on for today's incoming.

I had to literally stop the postal lady and ask for my package. I was watching for her on my cameras, because I knew if I let her go by, she'd forget to deliver like always.

[Non BF dealer] got a shipment of 25 of the damascus bladed ones in today... Just got off the phone with them with my order.

Get am while there hot! [price removed.]

Thanks! Talk about good luck!

I'm new to pocket knives, but I thought you got those buttons in every GEC. I called my vendor and asked why didn't I get a least one button? I'm learning more about the nuances of these knives everyday.
