I would use my own tasteful-looking folder steak knife at any restaurant, without any qualms. Not to try to make a statement to anyone else, but simply to enjoy the pleasure of fine slicing with a personal knife that I enjoy having and using! Used discreetly, it's doubtful anyone else in the restaurant would notice, let alone care.
In fact, I have a nice dinner-out planned for next week and will be taking my newly arriving KAI 5700 to that dinner for it's inaugural implementation! I bought this knife specifically for this purpose. Looking forward to using it then.
