As others have said, you really need to weight the whole thing exactly as it came to you. From what I can tell it was shipped regular first class mail in the parcel category so that should put it in total, box and everything 12oz. Weight the box and the sock packing materials separate from the knife and see whats left. Hopefully that will give you some insight into what was shipped and give you a better road to recourse.

My understanding is hat the seller is responsible for the delivery of the item. It can be insured through the shipper or self insured , but in any case a claim should be paid unless a fraud is proved. A refund is due.

Hopefully this will be settled quickly.Mail fraud penalties can be as severe as an imprisonment of up to 20 years, as it is generally considered a serious offense. The fines can also go up to 1 million dollars if the crime has affected a financial institution in some way.

funny how yanks says on every thread that hes done responding.SO UM, UH IM NOT SURE IF ANYONE HAS THOUGHT OF THIS CONCEPT YET BUT HOWS ABOUT A PIC OF A RECIEPT?!?

Tell the seller to take another photo of that distinctive counter the MSC is on and post it:

Those pix look very well done...almost like they were grabbed off somewhere.

Yup! Did not take long to find where those pix came from:

I take my hat off to you sir....the final blow!!!

How did you do that? I knew I've seen those somewhere else I could not remember that's why I thought he posted those twice!

Good find, mctrinket.

Now, at the very least, we know that the seller did not post pictures of the actual knife for sale. IMHO, the pictures in a sales thread should be of the actual knife unless the seller mentions otherwise.

Not looking good.

Certainly suspicious. Not the smoking gun, but certainly a very compelling piece of circumstantial evidence.

And i also found out the return shipping address is for one of his dad's old businesses that has closed down.

Thing I really like about these GBU threads, they provide all kinds of new additions to my ignore/do not deal with list...
as RevDevil says 2 sides to every story. What concerns me is the following, members here make foolish business deals, disregard all the clear signs, don't follow the basic rules of buying via the internet, pay with funds not protected, don't at first chance ask for copy of tracking number, to see if item is moving and if insured, I bet op did not tell seller to only ship insured. Which really only protects the shipper, and then the poor 'ol OP drags into a forum, screaming woe is me, woe is me. OP you committed suicide. You screwed yourself and show up here smelling freshly screwed and bleeding out every hole and expect everyone to fix your mess, friend you created the storm, ride it out yourself. Had this been a smart deal, with seller itrade cking out different story. To me it is a clear case of OP knife greed that screwed the deal. Wake up, scammers are everywhere, everyday, and if Yank is or not, really does not matter, you opened the hen house door, the fox is full and you crying because you don't have eggs. This is the oldest story on any internet site. If you did not care, why should 3-4 Mods and the members. If you are really a tough guy, handle your dealing, but you best get a better knife than the funk drunk skyline, LMFAO. also what does seller's dad have to do with this mess you jumped into, imo that is a B/S move. It says a lot about your character posting dad's name, and coming here because you GAVE someone your lunch money. It is pointless to try and "save" you, because you'll jump right back in again. Instead of crying, you should learn a lesson, Life's not fair son, certainly when you help stack the deck. Your blaming others and calling this guy and that guy is sad, just go look in the mirror if you want answers. Yank, give the guy back his money now, you won, beat him and taking money from old ladies and kids really ain't that fun. Pick on someone your own size. Wrong to prey on the weak, I'll respect you once op gets his money, he lacks the style and nerve to scam you yank and you know it, so stop playing and send his milk money back now ! Always a bigger bully around if you don't.. Thanks for manning up, I give you that on the front end, don't let me down, don't make me sad.... rb black

River rate I'm glad you assume I am at fault. I kept communication troughout. I was the one who sent the last email to sechip which he didn't respond. If could send1000 dollar refund which I could do no problem I'm not going to cry over a grand but the principle is I will be getting scammed. Pellel2 I'm your original post you stated I do not know what happened and will not post more regarding the transaction?

Well, as it stands now you have no proof at all that you followed through with your end of the deal. I'm trying to look at it from both sides, and i'm not assuming anything yet. I have no dog in this fight and don't know much at all about sechip, never dealt with him. But what is obvious is that either you or he is lying through their teeth.

You skimped out on shipping and insurance. Who cares if he said he didn't want insurance. It's stupid not using it in this case.
You haven't demonstrated that you sent the correct knife, or that you would trust anyone else with something as important as $1K item. Peanuts to you is big bucks to others. I'd be laying mushroom clouds everywhere if I got burned that way, believe that.
You've not provided anything but references to something that is irrelevant. It is your responsibility to make sure the item the person bought gets to them, no ifs, ans, or buts about it.
We know sechip purchased a money order, are you saying you didn't receive it?
You need to do something to make things right. Look for the item, find the item, ship the item overnight, refund the money, something. Take the responsibility that belongs to you and deal with this issue like a grown man. Deflection is not helping you, and Dawkind isn't going to vouch for something he wasn't involved with.

Remember, this will come back to haunt you and it will be available on google for those that search your name. Imagine how your clients would react if they googled your name and this came up? Doesn't exactly inspire confidence in a financial planner/broker/whatever you do for a living. Especially if your father is a public figure. It can be pretty damning actually. Not to mention federal investigations. Again, your call how you resolve it. You can either help make things right or roll the dice and become a victim of whatever hand fate deals you. This isn't a threat, but something you should be considering as it is all common sense and potential directions in which this can play out.

And i never said i didn't want insurance i just assumed he would do it like any NORMAL person would who's selling a thousand dollar knife.

And i also found out the return shipping address is for one of his dad's old businesses that has closed down.
Print out all correspondence, save the packaging and contents with your postal money order receipt and contact the U.S. Postal inspectors !

If he doesn't make it right by tomorrow i will be getting all the personal info i'll need and i have all the packaging and receipts.

Nothing is looking good for you, Yanks. Change of phone number conveniently during a sale, faulty return address, you had your brother ship a $1000 knife, no insurance, and you won't post a picture of the receipt. Also, the pics you used have been proven to be taken from another website. This sounds like a scam to me, and you should honestly just refund the man's money.
