Your budget everyday carry knife. Post yours!

I'm a huge fan of the CRKT Squid:

Cool lil knife dude

My budget winter rotation includes the always-there, not-so-budget Pacific Salt (EDC daily since I got it, can't leave it behind) plus one or two of these:

I bought one of these because it looked like a nice grip and blade shape (mine is green grips with a Damascus style blade). Didn't like it. Blade deployment was trash out of the box - really sticky blade and too stiff of a spring. The spring assist won't activate if I move it too slowly, even with the flipper pressed all the way down. The pivot screw is jammed so hard that I can't adjust it. A bit of oil made deployment smoother but still not great. The grip that I thought looked good was too slippery and the shape of the grip narrowed weirdly at the top. Even running smoothly I wouldn't recommend it, not good enough of a grip.

Really liking the look of that G712 / Bedlam clone right next to it though. How is it? I've been wanting one so I can try out the blade shape without coughing up the clams for a real Bedlam.

These are the only ones I have photos of. Some of the photos have more expensive knives and inexpensive knives together

That's a good looking A.G. Russell.

Thank you. Yeah, I thought it was pretty cool looking.

How do you like the Black Dragon?

I like the way it looks. It has a nice finish. The lock side has the same black wash-ish finish as the blade. The handle is real thin. Almost too thin for my taste. I think it could use another standoff up toward the blade to make the handle a little more rigid. Also it has some blade play left/right. Needs larger washers. You can't tighten the pivot screw to fix it. Makes it very hard to open if you do. It opens good with the thumb stud, but sadly, the flipper isn't that great. I can't open the knife with it unless I use a hard wrist flick. But it's no big deal. I still like the knife overall.

Try it! For this price is a no-brainer. I'd say it has the best HT/Blade steel of all the cheap Ganzos, Enlans and SanRenMu I've owned and tried. Holds an edge really well and sharpens easily. It does perform steel-wise like my more expensive knives, to my surprise.

"Axis" lock works smooth and engages every time, but gets dirty very quickly. The tip is deadly, stabby and really good piercer but strong and sturdy. It's my favorite Ganzo by far, the sturdiest, sharpest and I like the blade shape a lot.

Yeah it's a Bedlam ripoff but I also wanted to try the design and I in no way regret buying it. Only cons: Gets dirty and dusty very easily, the handle scales and material are not really comfortable and It's quite a heavy folder to my liking...

I rotate between two knives every month or so.

Knife A - Victorinox "Farmer" http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41Ya8thFHjL._SX425_.jpg
I love this little knife, as it has just enough tools in it without being too large or bulky. The blade seems to be holding up very well for a $30 knife. As an added bonus, the saw blade they put on this piece is outstanding! Overall, not the finest pocketknife in the world, but I don't think that's what this thread is for.

Knife B - Case "Oatmeal", Bone handled, 2-blade knife. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb282/coxoffroadfab/20150218_153122_zpsqpeiefrn.jpg
Mine is identical to a fellow forumite who posted theirs previously.

Sorry to go OT, but your photos are excellent. If only they didn't have those ugly-ass zip ties...

My budget carry tools: a Vic Cadet and/or a Boker Trance.

I carry two knives. My Rat 1 and SAK Farmer.
SAK is allways in my pocket but Rat is in rotation with manix 2 xl

Sometimes a Chinese, like this Bee. F&F and action is outstanding on this knife for it's price.
The only downside is that it's kind of... boring! :-) Performancewise, no objections and the handle is really comfortable.

While I do not know the relationship between Enlan and BEE (they are supposedly the same company), i have the Enlan version of the L05, with all its 8Cr13MoV glory.

I'm actually trying to offload this one; it's too big, and I favor knives with blade lengths between 2.4" - 2.8".

As someone whose entire collection is made up of Chinese knives, I agree that Enlan is boring. Virtually all their knives have the same blade design. But they work well enough.

One of these lately.

I'm about to cycle in an older Queen Country Cousin in 440A I got for a 10 spot used.

At about $40 this thing has been kicking everything out of my right front pocket, claiming that spot for itself ;) Real Steel Sea Eagle;
