Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

Full size Kabar USMC fighting knife. Kabar also makes a "short" version of this knife which, at one time, was on my list of knives to acquire. Times change, needs change, and I never picked one up. Hadn't thought about it in years, then this full size one came along at a very good price and here it is 😛
I have no idea what I'm going to do with it  I was never a Marine, I'm certainly not going to fight with it, I don't hunt, and I think my camping days are mostly done. I'm sure none of y'all ever bought a knife you had no use for ;)
Its a big old hunk of leather handled, 1095 bladed knife 😃

That capsule-shaped indentation on the blade is where you're supposed to clench it in your teeth when you're infiltrating enemy HQ via a flooded and long-forgotten subway tunnel, yes?

Grabbed this new Boker congress to keep myself from beating up a really nice older one.

Initial thoughts:

Im kinda second guessing my choice. This is one of the "assembled in Germany" knives. Economically priced.

There's nothing terribly wrong with it. The blades are a little thin, flexible and feel a bit flimsy. There are no half stops. The worst thing is that the frickin nail nicks are so polished over that they are rounded and it makes the knife hard to open. The blades all need dropped at least .125"

It is pretty much flush. The blades don't rub. It is snappy. It has a nice pull that is just the right kind of heavy. Smooth action.

The mystery steel kind of bothers me. "High Carbon Stainless" It's like Boker has gone out of its way to hide the fact that this thing is made in China. Nowhere in the literature or on the website does Boker name the steel. It should really be stamped Boker Magnum or something like that. I don't care about it being made in China... But just say it. It was a cheaper knife. Pretty obvious it's not the high end Solingen stuff.

It definitely doesn't replace my nice old usa 6006 but might be good for work. I'm gonna give this thing a test drive and see how mystery steel holds up. It's sharp out of the box and is a pretty attractive knife. Maybe I'm just overthinking it because the older USA one spoiled me.

How was the factory edge?
So-so. The blade was sharper towards the handle for some reason. Got the blade a little sharper, and it slices tomatoes pretty easily, but I think my cheap Farberware stainless steel chef's knife is a better slicer.

They are not for sale separately but Browning included a 3/4 size Ka-Bar with their 100th Anniversary 1911-22. Very cool looking blade.

A couple recent arrivals

Spyderco makes a great little counter puppy knife, but it’s made in China and it is expensive for what it is. I will only buy more if they produce elsewhere.
