Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

I find it curious that Case will mix horizontal and vertical sawcut jigging on the same knife. They also will do it within a pattern. I have a 2021 Copperhead with blue Carribean, vertical sawcut on both sides, while another forum member has an identical knife except his has horizontal sawcuts. Anybody have any idea if there is a reason Case does this? Whimsy? Just works that way to maximize the number of handles produced out of a given quantity of bone? Jigging machine gets turned sideways?
Anyway, nice bone on that one :thumbsup:

🤔 I didn't even notice that until you pointed out it! Nice observation. Trappers are out of my norm (another rabbit hole), but this one just stood out to me for some reason.

Just arrived today
Looking over it closely, I noticed that it appears the tang markings and model number on the pen blade are both laser etched instead of stamped. I don't think I have seen this on a case before, something new? Edited to say I see an announcement from Case in April that they were going to start laser tang stamps going forward, so I guess that's the way it will be

Double mail call today (triple if you count the pocket slip). 2023 BF and an Albers Lambsfoot in Snakewood.

Well pedantically speaking it's clearly not a pocket-knife, nor is it a hunting type and no sheath...but it is TRADITIONAL as you can see from the delightful retro packaging  My latest arrival for the kitchen and I'm increasingly taken by what the French call couteau office or paring knife. It tackles nearly everything you want in the kitchen unless butchering huge slabs of meat (can't afford that anymore:( ) or vast quantities for a giant family meal etc. My big kitchen knives remain idle but these smaller types don't.

Looks like a handy little knife, Will, and good looking, too. The only thing I would change about it (and this is just a personal preference I have about kitchen knives) is to have the edge (and main grind) extended all the way to the heel of the blade.

btb01 btb01 Thank you Barrett I'm really pleased with it in hand, and the wood is nice too, Magnolia . Just curious, why do you like the heel edged too? Don't understand.

Functionally, I like being able to sharpen a knife like that (where the edge is offset significantly from the handle) all the way to the heel. Beyond that I think it’s just an aesthetic preference.

It’s something I usually notice more on larger chef’s knives, like this one, where the bolster extends down to the heel of the blade. I just find it big and clunky.

(To be clear, I don’t think any part of the knife you showed looks big or clunky. I think it looks like a great knife. I was just saying that personally, in an ideal world, I’d prefer it with an edge/grind that extended all the way to the heel.) 🙂
