I've been searching for my perfect gentleman's carry, and I think I've found it in the form of this 2002 Schatt & Morgan black mother-of-pearl Senator:

I'm flummoxed as to how to capture the luster and depth of the pearl with my camera, which is marvelous when the light hits it just right. I've completely failed to capture it here. I hope, however, that I've at least been able to convey how wonderfully smooth this knife is -- the covers are so neatly joined that it almost feels like the whole knife is a single piece. The pins are barely detectable by feel.

This knife ticks so many boxes for me: equal-end, sheepsfoot secondary, lightweight (1.3 oz.!), vanishingly small in-pocket, pleasing in-hand (four-finger grip), and the best fit and finish of any of my S&M knives. The only way it could be closer to perfect is if the main blade had a fully sunk joint (the secondary does), but it's so close to sunk that that's a minor quibble.

I'm so happy with this little guy!

That's a beauty Dadpool. Im on a list for custom and am really considering this pattern for gentlemens carry. Seeing yours may have sealed the deal on that.

 Thanks Brett! I've been very fortunate on finding some of my "grail" fixed blades lately . Been neglecting that part of my collection for a long while.

That is..I'm speechless about thatk nife. The sheepsfoot secondary is amazing. Great piece. sleek Dadpool :)

Dadpool...that S&M senator is really a looker. I've not even given this model much of a glance. probably because I normally just don't get attracted to pearl. And it is difficult to judge a knife on online store or even the bay from pictures, But you have managed to pick some really unique knives.
You have the eye for these:thumbup:...That senator in black pearl just about defines what a gent knife should look right.

Very nice Dadpool!! How big is it closed? Looks like a Queen #26 Senator which is about 3 1/4" closed.

A new Soda Scout arrived for me today :)

Been waiting for a photo of the Micarta Trand, picking mine up later today.
Can you feel the texture of the Micarta at all? Great photo

Thanks Tim :) No, I can't really feel the texture. That isn't too out of the ordinary with linen micarta. The handles when polished feel pretty smooth. Right now, it kinda feels and looks like paper micarta to me, like the goldenrod micarta. The linen should be more pronounced especially at the edges and curves but perhaps that will come out after carrying it a bit or sanding it down.

Seriously if someone wants to give me some pointers on sanding/spilling beer on mine I can give it a whirl and post some pics tonight.

No tips beer spilling tips from me but here's my most carried linen micarta knife (only a couple of months of carry over the years). The first 2 pics are from when I received it. They looked solid black but there was a hint of linen in the handles. The 3rd one is more recently after washing the handles.
