Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

Sure is, thanks! I'm trying to find a Stockman or Jackknife in similar stag to pair it with.
Good luck in your search, Bill; FWIW, I think you have a good plan. I really enjoy having knives with matching covers that I can carry together. For example, I have chestnut bone Case swayback jack and Sodbuster Jr (and I NEED to get a chestnut bone CV sowbelly and/or Peanut to make an incredible trio or quartet), maple burl Remington peanut and canoe, a bunch of jigged amber bone Rough Riders in various patterns, and I'd like to get a Pioneer or Farmer to pair with my red Alox Cadet (or a silver Cadet to pair with an Electrician I have, or a black Cadet to pair with a Pioneer I have, or an olive green Cadet to pair with a Farmer I have, or ...)

Hi 5K. I bought both specifically for this comparison.
"Sniping" is SUCH an ugly term.:D
Thanks for the follow-up, Frank. I'm a geezer with no online auction experience, so I'm not exactly sure what "sniping" is, but you sound pretty pleased with yourself! ;) (Next summer, I think I'll have to learn about PayPal, major auction sites, etc. Anyone have links to any good tutorials?)

My latest addition. I've been waiting for a 3.5" LC for awhile. This Dunlap checked all the right boxes.

Westinghouse Ivory Micarta.

Whoa, that's a real looker, Mike; congrats!!:thumbup:

Congrats on scoring a couple of sweet Schrades, Robert!!:thumbup: That slender, round-bolstered one with the slim clip really calls to me! :D

GT - Thanks for the compliment on the 72. No shenanigans were involved, just a honey hole!;) Every good fisherman knows you never divulge the location of your best honey holes.
As for the time travel, yes it is real! When I traveled from the Eastern Time Zone to the Central Time Zone my cell phone went from 3PM back to 2PM!:D
Thanks for the reply, Ron. :) I see the source of my confusion about your situation: I'm not a good fisherman by any stretch of the imagination, so I don't comprehend the concept of "honey hole". :D And I see what you did with time travel!! :p

Those are nice Boz!!
+ 5K!:cool: Each of those knives has VERY appealing covers!

Thanks Gary!!! The 899 is awesome...but then the 881 is too!!!! :D

I went to a gun show today, and picked up a 1982 Boker Whittler in thuya wood.

Fantastic looking Whittler!
Edit: just taking a better look at those scales and it seems that you have a nice burl eye centered by the secondaries, what does the other side look like?

I have to go to a gun and/or knife show one of these days...

My first whittler (first in Kingwood too) should be arriving tomorrow. Gives me another reason to look forward to my work day ending.

Thank you. It's a strange wood. I can smell a ceder/pine sort of aroma even though the knife is three decades+ old.

.

I look forward to seeing your new whittler. One of my favorite patterns. :)

Me too, stuck at work and it is sitting on my dining room table...
Edit: USPS decided to not leave it in my mailbox and now I have to wait til work is over on Tuesday, if I get out early enough... One thing that I am not a fan of is the post office, around the holidays, during rush hour, after working 10 hours...

Is yours a split back? To keep the rub marks off of the main, make sure to open the main then the secondaries. With tolerances being as tight as they are, the act of opening a secondary might cause it to rub on the main.

Can I ask for a pic of the spine when you get a chance? I am going to be keeping my eyes peeled for one of these.

Im in for 2 new additions today...... a #83 Smooth Yellow Rose and a an old faithful #71 Bullnose. This makes 3 total traditionals for me with the #76 from last week. Its not easy to choose a traditional folder just by looking at photos as well as here on the forum. Im guessing that like everyone else have to buy it, fondle them for a while and decide which to keep.

So it all started with this OD Green Linen Micarta #71 Bull Nose that I had preordered and received a little over a week ago. It was my first #71, and I was really impressed.

Well, that sort of kicked off a Bull Nose buying spree. My second (the Nifebrite) showed up late last week, and then three more arrived in the mail today!

So here's the lineup. From top to bottom, OD Green Linen Micarta, Natural Canvas Micarta, Red Linen Micarta, Nifebrite Acrylic and Tortoise Shell Acrylic.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think all I'm missing from this year's Bull Nose run is the Sunbrite Acrylic, the Orange Delrin, and the Black Linen Micarta. I doubt that I'll round out the collection; the Sunbrite seems too similar to the Nifebrite (and while I haven't seen both in person, I definitely think I like the Nifebrite better) and the Orange Delrin doesn't do much for me. I do like the Black Linen Micarta, but I don't know that I'll get one.
