Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

Me too, stuck at work and it is sitting on my dining room table...
Edit: USPS decided to not leave it in my mailbox and now I have to wait til work is over on Tuesday, if I get out early enough... One thing that I am not a fan of is the post office, around the holidays, during rush hour, after working 10 hours...

Is yours a split back? To keep the rub marks off of the main, make sure to open the main then the secondaries. With tolerances being as tight as they are, the act of opening a secondary might cause it to rub on the main.

Can I ask for a pic of the spine when you get a chance? I am going to be keeping my eyes peeled for one of these.

Bummer about the post office, but it could be worse. I got a po box for packages because I hate when my mailman leaves things on my porch in full view of anyone walking by on the sidewalk.

It is a split spring, or more accurately, a double spring, with the main riding on both, and the secondaries on one each. No middle liner. That's why I like whittlers, the blades don't have to be crinked to fit. I'll take a picture when I have a chance.

Also:
I looked for info on this whittler, and all the pictures online had a tree shield inlay. Mine doesn't, but there's a sort of shiny spot in the wood right there. I got out a magnifier, and it's possible that the previous owner lost the shield, and filled in that spot with epoxy. If so, they did an amazing job because I can't quite tell.

Its not easy to choose a traditional folder just by looking at photos as well as here on the forum. Im guessing that like everyone else have to buy it, fondle them for a while and decide which to keep.

You're spot on unless you have a local store that has a ton of stock.

Handmade to order a 10cm carbon steel blade, juniper scales, Laguiole by Actiforge of Montbrison France, collected yesterday by UPS and delivered breakfast time this morning, my last one took six days by postal service, it is worth the extra.

Here it is with the previous one, a 9cm with horn scales, pretty but just to fiddly for my fingers, this 10cm blade is just over 3" an therefore illegal in the UK but as i do not intend brandishing it in public i wont lose any sleep over carrying it in a belt pouch usually covered by my sweater or coat.

I went to a gun show today, and picked up a 1982 Boker Whittler in thuya wood.

Thank you. It's a strange wood. I can smell a ceder/pine sort of aroma even though the knife is three decades+ old.

That's an amazing whittler, Rachel!:thumbup: The wood is very interesting with its dark speckles, and (surprisingly) I like all the filigree and whoopdeedoo on the main blade. Is that etched onto the blade, or stamped/engraved? I think I see a wet spot in your photos on the wood; that must be where you think the "shield hole" was repaired. Don't you love knife mysteries? :p

Just received a #22 in root beer float acrylic and a #83 in stag
...
Congrats, totallynot; those are a couple of good looking knives!:cool:

a NIT 2014! ...
That's a great find, mrknife!! ;)

So it all started with this OD Green Linen Micarta #71 Bull Nose that I had preordered and received a little over a week ago. It was my first #71, and I was really impressed.
...
Well, that sort of kicked off a Bull Nose buying spree. My second (the Nifebrite) showed up late last week, and then three more arrived in the mail today!
...
So here's the lineup. From top to bottom, OD Green Linen Micarta, Natural Canvas Micarta, Red Linen Micarta, Nifebrite Acrylic and Tortoise Shell Acrylic.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think all I'm missing from this year's Bull Nose run is the Sunbrite Acrylic, the Orange Delrin, and the Black Linen Micarta. I doubt that I'll round out the collection; the Sunbrite seems too similar to the Nifebrite (and while I haven't seen both in person, I definitely think I like the Nifebrite better) and the Orange Delrin doesn't do much for me. I do like the Black Linen Micarta, but I don't know that I'll get one.
Congrats on your superb collection of Bull Noses, btb!:thumbup: You may not want to "round out the collection", but you ought to at least buy TWO more so you can carry a different one each day of the week!! :D:D

Those are a couple of very elegant Laguioles, OMR!:thumbup: The horn is especially enchanting to my eyes! (Isn't a 10 cm blade just over FOUR inches?)

A couple of relatively new additions for me are a Vic Explorer (in-line Phillips and magnifier are sweet features) and a stainless Case stag Peanut:

Rough Rider Moon Glow locking Sodbuster (small 3.5") arrived today, can't do pix just now as it's dark most of the day already. But, it glows:D

I just purchased the KA-BAR too. What is the pull on yours? Mine is a real nailbreaker.

The pull on mine is damn near perfect. Definitely not a nail breaker. It's very smooth also. Probably the smoothest traditional I've ever had. I made a note when I ordered it for them to check for blade centering and to make sure it was not a nail breaker. That's pretty much the norm for me if I order a knife off the Internet. I always send a note asking them to check for certain things for me.

I don't know why, but I like all the "whoopdeedoo" on the blade, too. :D It's either stamped, or very deeply etched.
Deep enough that it won't be lost in patina.

That little fat stag peanut looks like a handful. In a good way.

Interesting. I guess I was not as lucky as you as mine is very rough opening and is a nail breaker (10 pull and rough as hell). Love everything else about the knife and its fit and finish but I am extremely disappointed with its operation. In fact I have decided to carry one of my Rough Rider Barlows in lieu of the KA-BAR.

Sorry GT my bad , according to Google it comes out at 3.93701 and that is not including the tang.

Thanks, Robert. :) I think seeing the in-line phillips on one of yours "planted a seed" with me. ;) If I'm reading sakwiki correctly, the fact that my Explorer has no parcel hook means it's pre-1991, and thus also has the original 8x glass magnifier, right?

No problem, oldman! ;) In fact, I should say: Sorry OMR MY bad, I should have written that 10 cm is just UNDER 4 inches. :( As the doll Barbie once said, "Math is hard!"

I already posted it in the totin' thread but I wanted to share this little 22 mangum I just got. It's the Tidioute version with copperhead jigged bone.

(I forgot to wipe off the smuges in the second pic, it's not scuffed up yet!)

This Schrade 3 OT lockback is a very sound knife. Despite what some may have encountered in the past, these contemporary Schrades are inexpensive and very tightly made knives. No play whatsoever, so gaps or rough finishing and satisfyingly sharp. Very pleasant small lockback indeed:thumbup:

Finally got all of these in today. I love the Case penknife and I'm highly impressed with the foreign knives, especially considering what they cost.
