Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

Looking great! Congratulations. :)

So: were you able to get the blade open this time around, or did it come that way? ;)

~ P.

Thanks! I love the nick combo too, looks really good to my eye. I was actually surprised that I got the blades open this time. Maybe I remember it was harder, maybe it is some oil or just "worn in" who knows. I did however, make a little nail opener yesterday in my ghetto workshop with dremel. I just took old tea spoon and shaped it with the dremel but took the spoon part off. Now I can take it just in case with the toe. :)

Thanks for this post. In all the pictures of the JSR SFO, the H60 has not shown the pile side. I was not sure that they put the acorn shield on the knife.
I don't have a H60 in my GEC fixed blade collection, and now I'm tempted.
Is yours 440c or 1095 ?

You are welcome Hamsco....it's SS:thumbup:

owner put a forced patina on it, which i don't prefer. but still glad i found it.

The last 30 posts or so are all some nice knives, as in I can imagine using them all nice. Plus, TONS of generosity behind several of them.
Brumby, what can you tell me about that IXL barlow?

Connor

Connor, I can't tell you much re the Barlow ... 3 1/4 inch closed single sheepsfoot blade, the bolsters are solid and the covers are hard plastic (sort of a British version of Delrin?)

Tang stamp "I . XL George Wolstenholm Sheffield England" the reverse side of the tang is ... "Stainless Steel"

Unfortunately the blade which is full and not had much use looks like someone took to it with a rasp in an attempt to sharpen it - it's ugly! But I am hoping to give it a make over.

Derek

Derek,

Interesting. I see so much nice Sheffield stuff from you all across the ponds, yes both ponds, and can't ever seem to get any here in the US. Maybe I'll see if someone is willing to do an international flea market swap, me sending a lot of US made flea market finds for a lot of UK made. Thanks for the info, and be sure to keep us updated with your work on it!

Got an old Imperial Diamond Edge Peanut today for 7 bucks. Took an,hour to clean it up and it got solid walk n talk. Mine in better shape than the picture I found online.

Posted this in the 73/23/72 thread but this is my newest acquisition. Been moving some stuff around recently and have a blackwood coyote as well as a blackwood Wallstreet on the way (from the trader here)

Very nice looking knife. How does one fix side to side play on a pinned slipjoint? I only own a couple, kind of a newb to traditional knives.

Edit.. Sorry, I'm referring to this post where you quoted your quote from another thread. You said the drop point had a little side to side but it would be an easy fix.

I just use the phone book method. Stick the pivot end in between a bunch of pages to protect it and give it a few good whacks with a hammer.
