Thanks Alan. I had hoped for better QC even on this one, the least of the Case/Bose collabs. I bought it online from a tool firm, so I don't think they'll be to keen on working with me on this. I might try Case. I don't get too bent out of shape ;) about this sort of thing, but this one is a little special.

Completely understand. I'll bet Case would fix it though, if you want. I sure understand some knives being more special.

So, Sometimes, I love the USPS. Paid for this knife Friday morning from Todd and got it at 1:00 today in Maryland.

Gorgeous knife, Alan. That jigging is fantastic!
Thanks Rick. Obviously, I am a big fan of Todd Davison. This one, I should have posted some specs. It's 3 11/16 closed, CPM154 Rc 61. Stainless everything. Coined edge, filed inside back-strap, double pinned bomb shield. The pins look hand spun or peened to me. They are all exactly the same height out of the bone. Just beautiful work.

That's a pretty amazing-looking knife, Alan. How do you top that one?
I'm not sure GE? I guess maybe.....Nope. I can't think of anything. I really like my other two Davison's, but this one is really traditional with the superb jigged bone. My other favorite Davison is Micarta which , I guess is not so traditional cover material?

I signed up for Todd's newsletter a few months back. Got a flurry of posts at first. Didn't buy any, just watched to get a feel for his work. Then nothing. Is this normally the way he works?

Bugdoc Bugdoc I would say not! I get one once, or sometimes twice a week? I would say, sign up again. I bought this from a "notification" from Todd's email list.

The pattern of Todd's jigging, and the micro-detail in each cut is just fantastic.:thumbsup:
I agree. It's just great work. Right up there with the best of them. Todd makes them so fast, they are actually good value too.

I love old knives, and I love the look of iridescent, opalescent mother of pearl. But I also like to carry and use my knives, so I've shied away from pearl handles, thinking them too delicate. Who wants a tool likely to break if dropped? On the other hand, as I've often said, "I'm older than I've ever been." So life is short, and I want to carry a delicate gem of a knife sometimes. Last week I saw this Winchester Pen on the exchange for a very nice price and pulled the trigger.

Jake even threw in a nice surprise: a folding ruler in wood with brass hinges. ruler.jpg Thanks, Jake!
