I find myself just carrying a peanut sized knife in my watch pocket more and more, usually all I Really need, but still carry a larger one when leaving the house. That there says 'don't put me down'!
Sowbelly convert here. This 2018 Case TB3139 Stonewash CV, single blade Sowbelly with yellow composite covers arrived yesterday. If the blade seems dark in the pictures, it is because Case did a Stonewash Treatment to the blade making it dark. This is not done by a chemical treatment but rather a tumbling method as per the Case website although I think there must be a skosch of some chemical in the tumbling medium. The knife is very thin as one spring and liner have been deleted to make it a single blade knife vs. a three blade knife. The fit and finish on this knife is very good. Anyway, I couldn't pass it up as it is a single blade and on top of that it has classic yellow covers. What more could anyone want?

Very nice history you provide Rick. I love reading things just like this. Thanks. To the best of my knowledge, the 1927 etch commemorates the year that Sears started selling Craftsman tools. The WLS etch stands for "Worlds Largest Store" and was later used as the call letters for the WLS radio station in Chicago which was started by Sears.
I believe the knife was manufactured around 1975 or it might be a 50th year anniversary knife from 1977.
Nice one.Sowbelly convert here.View attachment 1039121
I picked these three up, very reasonably, at a small local show this morning. I don’t know much about them, so feel free to chime in if you have any info. -Lance
Thanks Ace! I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. The date code on your buck indicates 1989 so it should be 425M steel, I believe. According to what I have read here on BF, Buck used 425M steel between 1985 and 1994, and they used 440C before that, and 420HC w/Bos heat treatment after that.
Gorgeous whittler!Another new seahorse ... I just love 'em! 2018 terra cotta.

That was a BIG score, and Happy Birthday.

Nice haul! Happy Birthday.
Gorgeous whittler!
Love that pattern.
I have one in green bone. Mine developed some blade rub, no liners keeping things separated. I think I got a less than perfect copy. Main blade centering is off. Hope yours is more better![]()
