This #86 2AB Red & Black Linen Micarta with 440C Stainless Steel blade came in Thursday's afternoon mail. It'll be a user so I filed the sharp edge of the tang that's exposed when the blade is closed and honed the edge as it wasn't very sharp out of the tube. Further, as with many of Howard's knives/patterns (the 88s come to mind), the blade tip rises just a smidgen above the frame. Not all of them - just the ones the hafters get a little heavy handed on.

Nice Ed. Red/black is my favorite micarta. Can you drop the tip by filing the kick down a bit or does that impact something else?

I just now filed the kick just a bit and dropped the blade tip just enough to have the tip sit about 1/16 th of an inch in the frame. Didn't affect anything else. The spring is still flush with the liners and covers.
