My ultimate is the Spartan Difensa (top knife). This is a combat/utility blade through and through.

SOG Seal Team. I've put this thing through a lot. Maybe a bit too big but a tough all rounder.

Sog Seal Pup Elite PE. Like the bigger brother but in a more compact package.

How many have heard of Bill Bagwell's "back cut", and would consider using it? Apparently this derives from research by James Keating...

Seems to me like nothing especially deadly, but hey, the knife is typically not painted black!...

How about this ducker?

First knife of a series that has come to be called the Boozefighter...

Mitchell, I still have that neck knife you made with the really thin blade and the ray skin wrap. It sees a lot of active duty in the kitchen. if someone were to break in my house it would probably be the first thing ,besides the CZ-85, I reached for as I wear it 24/7 almost. Well there is a giant Scottish claymore hanging on a display in my front room.

Cool! Funny, I just finished another one of those a couple of days ago.

I think you should too [emoji106]

"What would you select out of your collection to protect your family and property if you had to use a blade. "

I guess I don't forsee doing "battle" against kevlar-wearing marauders to protect my family and property. Maybe that's a "Canada" thing. I'm just from Chicago. More of a "hurt some guy who tries to break in then call the cops thing" going on here.

No epic battles, Ragnar.

I think we can all agree we just do what works for us, personally. No one can speak for every so let's just remember we're sharing speculative opinions here. I think CharlieMike brings up a good point, though. The human terrain is a constantly evolving thing. Gang members are more and more wearing actual Kevlar and body armor. If you're one who chooses to defend yourself using edged weapons, then I think that should be a consideration when choosing how robust you want your edged weapon to be. Not taking sides here on one side of the body armor argument. Just saying when choosing a "battle blade," body armor might be a legitimate consideration. I think if anyone decides to threaten your life or the safety of your loved ones, you could say that that instance does become an "epic" battle. This is coming from someone who has 3 deployments seeing combat under his belt. But it's just words on an internet page, so take it how your want. With credence or salt. That's your decision.

Marcinek is a "smart ass", he is obviously very educated. The whole kevlar thing was for instance, suggesting that if you choose to protect your family with a blade, it's better to use something durable that can actually disable someone. Kitchen knives are in fact sharp blades, but most intruders don't come empty handed. A heavy thick knife can be thrown and penetrate, while a kitchen knife will probably just bounce off of clothes. But hey this is just my opinion, and I have been on here for like 2 days.
