Zt 0452cf

I've carried mine every day since I got it and haven't enjoyed factory-built this much for a very long time.

I've decided to return my 0452CF. ZT has not responded to my query about getting the tip reduced or the blade reprofiled, and this will turn into a $300 knife if I pay someone to do it. But I envy you guys who are digging yours.

Maybe try for an exchange? Mine wasn't too close to the end of the handle out of the box, and after a sharpening it's nice and out of the way. Sorry to hear about your experiences with the knife bud, I hope it all works out

I emailed ZT over the weekend regarding this and they replied yesterday and told me to send it in for warranty work. The person also gave me their 800# I can pm you that if you would like it.

Thanks, Colorado. I was about to head out the door to the Post Office. I will cogitate on that.

Edit: I called ZT. The customer service chick was very nice, and said "a couple of them" got out the door with the blade too long. Said they will reprofile or replace the blade, so I'm happy. Said that ZT goes to the front of the line ahead of the "hundreds" of Kershaws they have in for warranty work. A little decent customer service goes a long way to make things good.

FWIW, here is the end of the blade buried in my finger.

Shame. I would of bought yours, but just bought another one through another dealer. I'm a big fan of blades being matched, or slightly exceeding the handle.

You know, I think you're entirely right. That thing is completely unsafe.
Send it to me. I'll take care of it. :)

Could you please post that 800# for ZT.
Mine arrived today - I was waiting on this one! I was thinking that if it was anything like my 562cf, 801 or 620cf - it would be perfect.
No such luck - I've read all the posts about the strong detent - I honestly was thinking that they were not familiar with a flipper. The comments were spot on if anything like mine. I first noticed the slightly off center blade and then tried - I repeat tried - to flip open. I got maybe 4 or 5 flips before I couldn't take it anymore. Then I thought it just needed to be broke in some - oil and a 2 handed flipping action about 50 times with no improvement at all!
And to make matters worse the blade centering got worse.
I know I could polish the detent and play with the pivot for centering - but I shouldn't have to.
I've written a note to Knifeworks - hopefully they can exchange for a good one - if not - I guess I'll need to contact ZT.
I must have just got one that slipped by QC?
I'm just looking for the same build/performance quality as my othe ZT's

The knife will break in nicely. I'm actually happy about the initial super stiff detent, it tells me tolerances are tight. Although I can't explain your blade centering issue.

Thanks guys -
The folks at ZT customer support are great.
Knifeworks said they didn't know when they would have inventory again - so I called ZT (thanks Rasco).
They emailed me a return label and off she went today to get all the issues worked out!
I waited this long for this model - a while longer isn't gonna kill me.
Thanks again

I've got a second 0452 inbound. I'll keep one as a user and the other one as a show piece/back up.

I may be sending my 0452cf into ZT as well. After reaching for my knife and cutting my thumb a few days ago, I cut my finger today. The blade is just a bit too long, and I imagine they could reblade it or just reprofile the blade? I am pretty in love with this knife right now and I don't want to send it in, but looks like I may have to.

I reprofiled and sharpened mine on the wicked edge for a few very long sessions. The point is tucked away in the handle now. Kind of bummed. I'd just deal with it if I were you, you'll have it to your liking in a couple of sharpening sessions.

I still think Kai made a good decision on the blade ratio.

I think you guys with poor blade centering and ugly stiff detent should send them in. Mine arrived today and the flipping action is just slightly softer than on my 0801s.

My girlfriend loves it. I may have to keep my eye on it....
