Zt 0452cf

Got an email mine is returning home from ZT. Should be here tomorrow. I don't remember it being difficult to flip or the blade being close to the edge so I'll have to look at these a little closer.

What did you send it in for?

One cat I talked to does not like the balance on the knife. But I like everything about it except the blade tip that pokes me when the knife is closed, but I'm going to get that remedied one way or the other. To me, the most notable (and attractive) features are 1) its appearance, 2) that it has a long blade and plenty of realty for a good grip, 3) the thin profile in the pocket, and 4) the deep clip. And the ball bearing pivot doesn't hurt either.

That's interesting. I find the balance to be perfect, at the first finger choil (I posted about this earlier in the thread).

Excuse the focus issues. Just a quickie to show the 0452 after a week of breaking in. The too stiff detent issue, now a non-issue. Did pop a drop of Nano on the ball & into the KVT bearings. Action...well, take a look (and a listen). Very nice knife IMHO.

Oh, man! I thought I was done for a while! But I have an 0900 and a 0452 on their way! I can't afford this! :)

Just got my 0452 in the mail today. This may be the most exceptional knife I've ever owned. I love my 0392 and it is flawless, but the 0452 has me more impressed. Rock solid all around, and the detent is THE BEST of any flipper I've ever handled, custom, midtech, or production. Definitely not too strong; it is perfect. LOVE the blade length. I can see how it might cut the tip of one's finger when closed, but it definitely won't be able to cut my thumb and I would have to really try to cut my finger.

This is pretty darn near a perfect knife, and I'm not even a big frame lock or carbon fiber guy. Another 10/10 from ZT. This knife wasn't even on my radar and I had planned on getting the 0900, but I am happy I picked this one up!

I have historically resisted any folders with blades much longer than a sebenza but this one is calling me. Russ

Can you stop putting your name after your post? Everytime I read one I think you are talking to me!!! :)

Russ....

Just received mine in the mail yesterday from a Canadian dealer up here... it's great! I love it. I was concerned about it's size because I'd usually be more in the realm of 3.5" blade for carrying but wow! So nice. I admit I'm not super nitpicky but I can't find anything wrong with it.

Perfect detent (definitely not too strong), great fit and finish, smooth and snappy out of the box and ridiculously sharp. This is only the 2nd ZT I've bought but they're winning me over. Well made in my limited experience

I just got one from KW (ser.0922), and the tip is not protruding, it's about 3/16s back. The carbon fiber scale looks good, with no issues. The initial super strong detent is now fine; even my wife was easily able to filp it on the first try. Without taking the knife apart, I beveled the lower edge of the detent hole, just a bit, using a small cutting disk, only by hand, without the dremel tool, and then polished it up with one of the fine ceramic files from Spyderco. While it's not very noticeable without magnification, the difference is just enough for a smoother operation. I learned not to sqeeze the lockbar a few year ago, opening my ZT 0550, and that also makes a huge difference on this model. Great knife, and I like it a lot.

My 0452 has broken in beyond smooth. It's literally a folder that fulfills all of my needs. I plan on buying another one when it shows up for sale. My only lasting complaint would be that it's tough to sharpen on the wicked edge, but do-able. Way to go ZT.

I do see what some mean by the tip being too close to the end of the knife. Today I reached in my pocket at work (with the 0452 in it) and resumed working, only to notice blood on the papers I was handling. I looked down at my thumb and sure enough, it had been cut on the tip with the closed knife. At first I thought I could only touch the tip with finger or thumb turned sideways, but now I see the fatty part does at times contact the tip. Obviously it won't ever make a deep cut, more like a paper cut, but it is kind of annoying. I still love the knife, but I will be mindful when reaching for it. I wish the blade were about 1 millimeter shorter and it would be an issue.
