ZT0606, who's on board?

Can somebody post pic of knife next to ruler from tip @0 to the end of cutting edge, what is size of actual cutting edge? How much of cutting edge is lost on finger choil?

Hi Wolf -

I would call it a sharpening choil, I don't think the finger really is designed to go there but I could be wrong on that - it is a little small for my hands anyway.

I don't think much cutting edge is lost, not enough to worry about.

In my experience with knives, I rarely use the heel of the blade save for in the kitchen (and even then I am no good at chopping that way...)

Classic example of ZT being put into a no-win situation.

The debut a knife like the 0801 and people gripe because the grind is too wide at the heel of the knife because of the plunge.

Then they debut a knife that nicks this little are off with a small choil and suddenly the complaints are all about 'lost cutting edge'.

Well I guess everyone likes something different.

This knife is really outstanding - mine does not have the bright colors that the ZT brochure shows, it is more like what Kneedeep posted a few pages back.

I am impressed at the 3d machining artistry on this knife, the CF backspacer is really something. I had forgotten about that from the Blade Show knives - cool stuff!

Of course I have been an RJ Martin design fan since I got ahold of the first Volt 3600. This 0606 seems like the ZT version of the Volt, with all of the requisite upgrades that come with years of improvements and enhancements.

Congratulations to those who scored this great blade!

Agreed.

My apologies for the reflection off the ruler in the second pic. Looks like the sharpened length is just under 3 5/8", so the choil takes up the remaining 3/8" of the 4" blade.

Thanks. 4" vs 3.6" is big and expensive in this knifes case difference!

It seems they all have different color variance?

It says the Blade is 4 inches, Not the Edge. And no in use It will make any difference.

And different cameras, lighting etc take different photos of the same piece make the colors look different.

Also will all these photo filters out people mess with the pics..

The color differences you see are from different camera set ups and monitor setups which was evidenced from kneedeeps picture post back a few ago. Not from the factory.

We have found that it is possible for tracked inventory items to be oversold if they are being bought at the exact same time so we throttled back to make sure they weren't oversold. Which is why you would have seen the out of stock banner for a little while, then a few more pop on. We'd rather have that than take someones money, get them excited, then pull the rug out from underneath them.

this was my first order from you guys and i thank you for not over selling. nothing is worse then ordering something to find out you cannot get it. espessially if i might have been able to buy from a different company if i had known you were out.... so thank you! and i will be back next time im in the market for a new knife.

The knife has some resemblance to Reate high ends, which costs about $400 each. Considering this folder is made in USA, is a limited edition, and with much better warranty, if people are fine with the Reate prices, $500 is a quite fair price. However, this does not necessarily mean (1) I think Reates are overprice and (2) I will be chasing this ZT.

i am so impressed by this knife! im a huge ZT fan andthey surpassed all my expectations with this one. The finish and design are just stunning. and the action is even better.

the only thing i would change is the type of blade steel. i would rather have m390, s90v, s110v, CTS-204p (which is what it says on the certificate of authenticity for some reason) instead of the cts-xhp
i think a Damasteel blade would make this the perfect knife. however cts-xhp is still a good steel and is by no means a bad steel. There are just some better ones out there

when i bought this i wasnt 100% sure i would keep it i was thinking i could probably buy it and sell it for a nice little profit (well thats at least how i justified spending another $500 on a knife to myself :-) )
but after holding it in my hand there is no way i can sell this knife. This is without a doubt the best folder i have in my collection. I think my custom OTF "deadlock"by G&G Hawk still holds the #1 spot in my overall knife collection but this is a very close second, but is certainly #1 out of my folders. Its a shame that more people cannot own it. This is a knife that deserves to be in every ones collection.

so if your on the fence about this knife and have they money to buy one on the secondary market i highly recommend it!

The certificate of authenticity mistakenly says the blade steel is CTS-204P, that actually bothers me a little. I think ZT's website also said CTS-204P the day before the release, but they have now corrected it to CTS-XHP. Zero tolerance should mean zero tolerance, even with respect to the papers....

Doesn't bother me a bit, all my COAs just sit in the box while the knife is in my pocket.

I wouldn't get too wrapped up in the misprinted CoA. All manufacturers are going to make mistakes, whether it be a misprint in a catalog or a wrongly advertised blade steel.

Even when factoring in the price, the 0606cf is an exquisite piece. All premium materials, USA made, the pivotless pivot is unique part only found on certain high dollar customs from a specific maker, an awesome warranty to back the knife up...I would just enjoy the 0606cf and not get to caught up in the misprint, because it really is an amazing piece of cutlery.

Enjoy it.

In all honesty, the misprint makes the knife more collectable. In 5-10 years it will be an enjoyable detail for someone trying to track one down.
