2011 fish pic thread

I need to talk my wife into a nice vacation to Destin. That can't be too far from you right..

Yep, we're cooking gumbo, shrimp and clams too. There may be some cold beer involved as well.

i am going out on a limb here and say WE ALL KNOW YOU WILL HAVE COLD BEER INVOLVED!.. you guys sure know how to have some country boy fun.. we only get to do it a few times a year. this is almost an every week event for you guys... we are headed to Buggs Island (Kerr Lake) this weekend for some cold beer and catfishing. hope to remember to take pics. hard to take pics with beer in one hand and a rod in another.

Tony, Destin is a tad over an hour away. If y'all get down this way, let me know, for sure. Hung, sounds like a great weekend, and I know what you mean trying to get pics.

A stringer of Rockbass I caught about 2 weeks ago while on vacation.....there are a couple of Sunfish in the batch as well.
I caught them on my Mitchel 300X series reel with 4lb mono....in our local creek. Grerat eating little buggers, all fillet and frozen for future consumption!

Pic # 1 is my boy's first fishing trip back in May. Pic # 2 is bait fish that I caught back in June. The water is just too hot these days.

Several of us went for a little while Saturday. Kept a speck, redfish, flounder, whiting and sand trout. Landed a pile of sharks of various sizes and variety of fish. Just about a perfect afternoon, other than my sis in law getting tagged by a stingray.

Took my daughter out on a party boat out of Captree State Park on Long Island.
We fished the Fire Island Inlet for Fluke (summer flounder).
Not one out of at least 100 caught on the boat topped the 20.5" limit.
Plenty of action with shorts and the ever ugly sea robins though.
Sorry, no fish pics...

Back to the mississippi river drainage ditches today. Caught 18 bass most 2 to 3 lbs. on a Guido Bug. This was my largest.

Wooly booger, did your son catch anything?

He did, thanks for asking! Three blue gills. I couldn’t believe how focused he was for a three year old. It was a blast. We've been several times since. He's "hooked", pardon the pun. I went today but I didn’t catch anything worthy of a photo; mostly 2-3 lb big mouths.

Texas rigged them with an eagle Claw wide gap . Dont know the size exactly. Used the barrel swivel trick shown in the improved texas rig thread. Caught 18 out 19 with it. The only fish I missed was running at me. Could not get a good hookset. Ive only used the barrel swivel trick twice . My snag ratio is almost zero and hooking ratio almost 100 percent. Im amazed at how good it works.
