Couldn't possibly be the influx of FB people and/or Flippers on here for the exchange/porch knife*. No way. Couldn't be....Whole atmosphere of the traditional exchange is different. Itās cutthroat and deep with sharks. A few years ago youād see something like āThis looks like a good one, my friend. Iād like to buy it. Will send PayPal in a fewā.
Now some donāt even bother with the pleasantries and only post ātakeā.![]()
If only we had more "bad guys" like you who cared. Pillar of the community you areI recall having to be the bad guy there as well.![]()
I just couldn't believe the gall of the guy. We'd JUST been informed by Charlie that he'd managed to sweet-talk Bill into possibly doing a knife for us this year, and the guy decided that was the best time to be like "That's great, so I just reached out to Bill, and asked since you're doing a knife for BF, any chance I could add an order on for another group?" It wasn't even finalized yet!!Couldn't possibly be the influx of FB people and/or Flippers on here for the exchange/porch knife*. No way. Couldn't be....

*and yes, many FB folks are only making a long play on seeming to be here for the "community" when they are really here for the exchange and porch knife, shocking and painful as it may be to those FB people who aren't in this category. Don't get your feels hurt or ask me to cite (or is it sight or site) my sources, cuz![]()
Just one?Man, such a beauty. I cannot WAIT to have one in my pocket.
why would you even want a bladeforums knife if you're not a bladeforums member?
I can speak to that a little bit. It's a bit of insight I gained when I started one of my collecting efforts. If you are a collector, you are usually going to be interested in collecting ALL variants - that could be an entire production run, the entire catalog, etc. It doesn't matter that some might be exclusive club knives - the fact that they exist and might represent holes in your lineup absolutely does.
For example, I decided to collect an entire production run of one of GEC's patterns. It wasn't without effort and I'm still missing a few, including a club knife. Personally, I do struggle between the following: 1.) If I am not a member of a club, it's hard to not feel guilty about trying to acquire a variant but 2.) It absolutely sucks to have holes in a collection - that feeling of being incomplete is lame. For the record though, my collecting efforts occurred a considerable amount of time after the run was completed. Elbowing one's way ahead in the line is an ethical problem and distasteful - club/forum members should trump collectors every time.
In the below picture, three knives in the upper left are club knives - two of which I am a member of. The other is a knife where they only had 27 made and I was lucky to find someone selling theirs. The last club knife in this run that I am after also only had 27 pieces made - it's not impossible but still slim that I might get one and obviously well after the club members had their shot at getting one.

Brilliant contribution as always. It's just a knife. Remember Graucho. "I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member."
Or for those who like classic literature: āBut God said to him, āYou fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?ā This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.ā
The process could probably use a little fine tuning, but goodness people, every little bump in the road and people are saying ITS THE END, THE END AHHhhhhhh.
They keep trying to make improvements to the random human response generation program, but as you can tell... it's still a little janky.Brilliant contribution as always.

On an unrelated note- months ago this guy sent me a PM telling me I was the big reason he didn't want a forum knife this year, detailing my benign transgressions.
He said, "You, right now, are a big part of why I'm so disillusioned with the place. You are also big part of the reason I've decided not to buy this year's knife."
As of a number of weeks ago, I noticed he wanted one again... and here I was thinking I was kind of a big deal...
I sincerely hope that knife he wanted found it's way to someone else.
