Mick, Now that the fan club has proven its loyalty and people have spewed on and on how its not the knifemakers fault and it was a second given to a friend that later sold it, and blah blah blah, may I make a suggestion? If you do have any qaulity control and you do inspect every knife including the locks on folders and you do reject a knife and you dont want to cut it in half why dont you get a tang stamp that says " NOT FOR SALE " and then give it away to whoever you please. Thanx for pissing in my wheaties this morning and P.S. If your sack is big enough it might make a nice cover for the shifter on my M37.

Oh God, man - give it a REST. This whole fiasco has been beat to **** for 10 damn pages, and here you are stirring it up again. Why? Bored?

Who's a maker you respect? Let me ask you something - if THAT maker were to give you - GIVE YOU a knife as a gift because he (or she) liked you and considered you a friend, would you take it? Would you be touched and honored by the gesture and the thought behind it? Would you? Because I would. THere is NOTHING wrong with the SLCC that started this mess. So the stamp is ****ed up. Big deal. Will the stamp help the knife cut or pry? No. So there are tool marks on the spine. Again, so what. This blade was a gift from Mick to someone. That someone spit on the gift by selling it to the Dealer Midget bought it from. Dealer turned it around for full price, and now all of a sudden it's MICK'S fault?

Do a search, man - see all the negative crap heaped on Mick here. I'm surprised he wasn't more antagonisitc. He has a right to be pissed. Have you ever posted or said something when you were angry? I have.

He also told Midget (who was "too lazy" to get his own satisfaction) that if he didn't like it, he (Mick) would make it right.

I have an SLCC that's all scuffed up - I love it. Bought it that way. Paid $400 for it, and I'm happy I did. THe knife isn't made to be put on a shelf and "ooed" and "ahhed" over. It's made to get hurt. And once it does, Mick fixes it up. Ask Wet One to post the pics of the two Striders he sent back to the shop to get resharpened. Look at those shots and ask yourself if a Sebbie or some other knife could be put throught he same abuse and still remain functional. Pretty is never equated to funtionality.

I also have an SnG. THe lock up was a bit iffy. Guess what? The next time I saw Mick, I showed it to him!!! ::gasp:: He looked at it, said "yup, it's ****ed. Send it in" So I did! ::gasp:: And, holy CRAP! He fixed it for me! Go figure, huh?

Feel free to bash away, boys. I have stood up for my friend. That's what I came here to do. I am now going away, so all this blather and **** slinging doesn't ruin my day further. And, if you complain about me and my low post count, do a search for "See2". I've been a member here longer than most of you.

Off to go beat the **** out of my Striders...

Chris

Thanks for proving the difference newbie.

The reason were loyal or fans is something you wouldnt understand. Just one example, might be a thing called respect. A real hard thing to come by it seems.

There are a few reasons I am loyal. Because I wish that someday I could be held in the same high regards that Mick (and Duane) is. And they make tools that dont fail. Some of use knives for things other than opening letters. We need knives that WONT fail. I really dont know of many companys that make cutting tools that are built to withstand almost anything. Not to mention the warranty. Name me one company that has a warranty as good as Striders.

BTW, I didnt think Micks post was rude. I thought it was funny as hell. And just because you did like it and dont want to buy his knives now, just made me buy another Strider, thanks.

Matt

Good grief.. what a read.. sounds like someone could use a good "PR" person to speak on your behalf lol ..

Not really sure why your such a hot head? if your products are as great as all the hype then there shouldn't be anything to get upset about..

Man I tell ya what this was none the less a interesting read and I'm sure will open up alot of eyes,.,. sometimes no matter the quality of a product it can diminished by the acts of it's maker..

Are you even on the same planet here? Go back and read my original post and then read what was said to me and then speak up. You type like a kid so I wont bother destroying you here but if you want I can obliege you.

Crybabies make for poor forums.

This started off as a very valid question, properly answered by page 2.

Bos moved, Strider still uses his process. It works.

Striders are primarily for users. Fashion marks are acceptable. Unless you were making an invalid comparison. If you disagree that a $325 knife can be imperfectly fashionable, you have the good fortune of dealing with the Strider guys, who will make one from scratch if one isn't already on the line.

Heat bluing is not acceptable, but considering that QC is normally a process that takes place inside, using electric lighting... it is still wrong and should be taken care of. Fortunately, it is a Strider, so it'll be take care of post haste following a phone call or email.

Finally, Green Berets, SeALs, Soldiers, Marines and Airmen use Striders. They don't pay $300+ for stamp quality.

Who are all of these low-post people that suddenly decide to come to this thread and take Strider's side? Shills of some kind? You guys hardly post at all and just "accidentally" stumble upon this?

That's been covered already. As some long time members have already said, Please read all the posts.

Whats with all the low post people coming in here and starting ****? Has anyone else noticed its the low post people bitching about low post people coming here?
And what the hell does post count have to do with anything again?

I don't support guys, I support stuff that works.
I came across this thread while looking aroung for a thread I could contribute to, posatively. This thread needs to end. The initial question has been answered effectively, and has now become an insult-fest. If you don't like striders, don't buy them. If you want them for collector value, you need to consider your own human worth.

No one asked us to do **** newbie. Its called free will. Not Nazi germany (oops, brings back old memories youd know nothing about newb, long live TAD). Please keep showing us the difference.

Thanks,
Matt

Gentlebeings, this website has a rule against personal attacks. We allow a little slack here on TGB&U, for obvious reasons, but when people who are not involved in a transaction make personal attacks on other people who are not involved either that doesn't help bring out the facts.

Even if you are not one of the parties in this transaction you are welcome to express your thoughts about it -- but try to do it reasonably politely, please.

If you're hoping to manipulate the moderators into closing or deleting the thread, forget it. All you can manipulate us into is banning you.

I think I'll put this post in boldface. I hope that will give it a better chance of being noticed amid all the noise.

I don't like Strider knives, but I admire a great many attributes of those that make and sell them.

This post started because a guy (who may or may not know how things should be done in the knife world) got a piece from Steel Addiction, and rather than call Dave up and work this out, put it on the Forums.

I had to call Dave on the phone today, and he wished that said poster would contact him, if there was a problem, dude could have his money back.

That would have been one solution to the problem.

The other solution to the problem would have been to call Strider and arrange for a fix, after explaining the situation.

Now, I AM a vet, and HAVE been around here for a while, AND I have a fair amount of posts. BFD.

The original poster SHOULD have tried one of the two solutions to the problem, as mentioned above. He did not, and due to the galvanizing nature of Strider products, created a flame war.

I am just personally glad that he did not buy the knife from me, because I would be PO'd that I did not get the chance to set things right before this got aired publicly.

And since he did air it publicly, I think that he is a frikkin' idiot, and I hope he learns from the error of his ways.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Perhaps. But it is a valid question to put on a forum. That's what the forums are for. And the answer was provided.

I think people just need to take a minute before typing and ask themselves what is really being asked, and what answer really needs to be provided.

Edited to add: Cougar, I was just suggesting to persons involved that this thread has served is purpose, and then some.

And, for obvious reasons I'll be deleting select portions of my posts in the very near future.

"Are these obvious flaws acceptable to you in the BladeForums community"?

BUT he also pointed out by his example that he thought the quality was slipping, which is a statement, and one almost guaranteed to create a fire. Which it did.

The correct answer is, of course, " no the flaws are not acceptable, why did you not try the two above OBVIOUS courses of action before posting here"?

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson
