a bit of a strider upset... :(

Forgive me if I missed some details, as I didnt read beyond page 3.

Call the shop. Talk to Josh or Rob. Get shipping info. Send it in.

I relize this is par for the course around here.....but seriously. 8 pages of responses to a post that, in the grand scheme of life, is insignificant.

Everyone that had an issue with Strider knives, still does.

Mick pissed off acouple people, and lost a few customers.

Mick appoligized to the guy with the issue and said "I'll make it right".

People still bash Mick and his company.

I will stick by Strider knives, cause they have done things that will never be reported by the vast knife wing conspirisists. And I think they make a damn good product. Then again, all 6 of the knives I have received over the past 5 years, have been perfect.

So continue to amaze me and let this go on for another 12 pages.

Although, I am sure when this issue is settled and the damaged knife is returned, and the customer takes ownership of a brand new knife......nothing will be said.

Take care bl's

Mean 'ol Mr. Nate

The argument is moot. This won't disuade me from buying a Strider, I won't get you to become a Strider collector.

Understood...Mr. Glesser and Mr. Reeves are class acts. So is Mick in my book...But to say "someone who is raking in the cash the way Mick is "....Thats just petty. I would assume you neither know Mick personally or have access to his financial statements, so stick to the topic at hand. How this turned into a Mick bashing thread(again) I don't know...I'm done

I haven't finished catching up with the whole thread yet, but I can see already it's going to TGB&U.

At this point, the only reason this thread is going on is because of low-post folks trickling in from Badlands and fanning the flames. Continue to amaze me and keep doing it, so it will go on for 12 more pages, while pretending you want it to stop.

Beyond that, I agree, this matter is settled. The original poster can send the knife to Mick or pick up a cool $400 for it. Crisis over.

No offense, but let's all be polite to other members and read the whole thread before you post. This is very important in such a heated discussion.
Not specifically directed at you, Cain. It's obvious that you're not the only one who posted without having read the thread in its entirety. It's tempting to do so, but if everybody stopped reading at a certain page, this thread would've been cluttered up with questions that have already been answered and points that were already addressed. Let's keep this halfway easy to read please.
Cougar's excuse is that he's a mod and it's his duty to read a whole bunch of threads every day. He also wants to react fast - and he did the right thing here by moving it to GBU IMO.

I had no idea Strider was no longer using Paul Bos for all of their heat treating, so for me the knife would be fine after all. I learned something new.

Strider knives does not need you people to tell them how to run their business, so just shut up about it. You don't like their attitude, don't buy Strider knives. They don't care, and will continue to thrive without your business.

I know hopping on the bandwagon is instictive for quite a few of you people, but this one is just about done so now you must wait patiently for the next one.

Are you kidding, Mike? This is all the entertainment some of these guys ever get! :D

I belong to USN also and I feel for Mick in many ways because I too give away knives I know I couldn't sell in good conscience. Many of my family and friends are running around with STR seconds and I never once gave any thought to the fact that they may one day get rid of one by selling it or how it may reflect on me when that happened.

Even still there was no real attacks or bashing of products or really that much negative statement stuff happening until after Micks first post. That is when this thread went down hill. Even still I thought it was a step in the right direction when he calmed down and apologized for his initial reaction. That made me feel much better. I don't agree with the comment made at the end and about the genitals either. That should not have happened. I venture to say if I behaved that way on other forums it would promptly get me banned for life. Mick should not be doing that. It is a bad example to set for the many younger visitors to forums like this but that is all that needs to be said about that.

Midget has every right to post this in any order in any venue he wants. I can't fault the man for coming here to make it public. Frankly I'm glad he did because I learned some things. I didn't know about "bro knives" or that certain companies sell used knives.

Lets all calm it down now and get back to a decent nature. Its all good in the end and a positive can always be found in something no matter how bad it may seem to be.

Howdy,

Kind of stumbled onto this and I am unclear of Midget's first post that started this thread.

If I spent $300 plus dollars on a knife and found these flaws I would be beating down the door of the dealer who sold it to me. That is assuming the dealer would not allow me to view the knife before the purchase. In that event I would have never bought the knife from that dealer.

On the other hand, if I purchased the knife from an individual I would have walked away before closing the sale. I would not have handed the person my money if I found defects that were this disturbing to me.

With that I am unclear as to your post in this "General Knife Discussion" forum.
Is it that you simply want to find fault with a knife? I do not know if you have ever been involved in manufacturing a product, but during the manufacturing process things don't always go right. Good manufacturers weed out items that don't meet their standards before the items get to the public. PERHAPS, this knife was one such item. PERHAPS, this item was sold at a discount/second because it did not measure up.

I am grateful for all the factory outlets that sell slightly off goods. You can pick some items up at these places at a real savings.

But, again, I am unclear as to your original post. I would feel foolish spending that much money on a knife I was that unhappy with. PERHAPS, you could share with us who wronged you in your transaction. I will be happy to stand beside you while we work this wrong out and get your money back from the dealer.

I know I would like to know who the seller is that misrepresented the sale so that every member here on BladeForms will not have to go through this.

Additionally, I own a few Striders. Oh, and other knives as well. They are generally used hard. I don't mind some of the items you found on your knife, but I'm not trying to dress them up either. If they preform, I could care less if they were pink.

That is the point isn't Midget? If your going to work the knife, then cosmetics don't matter much. If your going to collect and evaluate, then lets find the dealer that screwed you, get your money back, post his name here so our other members won't get screwed by them, and then get the knife to Strider to see what they do for us.

I personally have seen some beautiful custom knives made by Mick Stider, and I have used some fugly utilitarian knives made by Strider. I have been satisfied by both knives.

Thank you Midget for bringing this concern to our forum. I look forward to see how it is reconciled. It is important, as in any community, to provide product knowledge that will benefit it's members. You know as well as I do that to much trash gets passed around in this "electronic" age we live in.

Please keep us in the loop as to how you get this resolved. PM me if you would like me to do any leg work, or make any calls.

Jon

I've caught up now. There's never a dull moment....

The thing about Bladeforums that's different from some websites is you can read both sides of an argument here, and make up your own mind. On some websites you only get to read one side because the other side gets censored, and the moderators make up your mind for you.

You are right. I did read the whole thing. I meant to say that all the original, and pertinant info had been provided by page 3.

Consider this dropped, on my end.

As for the "low post" comment. I was a member many, many moons ago when OSKS was located here in Jax. But I havent posted in such a long time, that I forgot my login, and/or it was deleted for "inactivity".

Anywho. Back to the drama.

And Please, call me Nate. Mr. Cain is dead.

Nate,

as I said, I did not mean to offend you. Glad to hear that you took it the way it was supposed to come across. I have replied to threads I have not read entirely, so I can relate. I just stopped doing that when I noticed that it doesn't do much good and encourage others to do that as well. By the way, my name is Tim. :)

Oh man, I knew that you had to post something like this here, as it's instinctive for you to be the person who always disagrees with the majority.
I'm not saying that the majority is always right at all. But you make a point of always being in the minority just for the sake of being in the minority.

For the record: I did not "jump on the bandwagon", read my posts if you believe that.

Wow...some things never change on BF I guess.

" Strider Bashing " sure seems to be a favorite activity on here. Especially by people who DO NOT do their homework on a knife because they are "Too Lazy."

I think you should just take jbravo's offer, which is serious in case you are wondering, and tell steeladdicition or whoever you bought it from to honestly represent their products to future buyers.

Sorry you feel like you got the short end of a deal Midget, but posting all this stuff BEFORE seeing what Mick's response would have been to you personally was your first mistake.

Strider stands behind their products. Anyone who thinks differently is in the dark.

let me make my point on this

mick builds most of his knives to WORK. these knives function perfectly. or else they don't leave the shop.

you want pretty, go get some of the uninted cutlery knives. they make stuff just to be pretty.

you want something that will do the job. get yourself a strider. they work.

you want a collectable strider with everything you want in pretty knives ok go find one. they are out there. me hell i prefer the ones i know i can trust to take me to hell and back with out worrying about scratching the finish or dinging the handle.

i carry 2 strider knives on me all the time. both are scratched by the kydex sheaths and have scratches on the handles. also both of them are FREAKING SHARP strong tough and built to do the job. They are tools and weapons that i depend on to keep me safe not something i buy to impress my friends. but oddly enough my friends are usually pretty impressed because scratches and blemishes don't hide the fact that these ****ers are made to do the job.

now if you have issues with mick telling someguy to lick his sack? well i personally thought it was funny. why ? because it is no hidden fact that people on these forums want to play by bullshit non rules. would you call out another maker on here and say bullshit comments like their quality is going down? this is from his extesive viewing of how many strider knives for how long?

you saww a strider with a lock problem? ok come on tough guy lets see it show me the ****ing lock problem.

find anything anything at all out there made in a shop and you will find those that are out there that break or have qc issues. mick PERSONALLY takes the time to make any problem he is made aware of right. you break it he'll either fix it or make it right. beat that anywhere with anyone. HE HAS FREAKING FIXED KNIVES PEOPLE ****ED UP ON PURPOSE. YOUR INSURANCE WONT DO THAT FOR YOUR CAR.

What do you want from the guy? He could stand up and walk on water and you'd want him to pat his head and rub his tummy while sining the national anthem backwards with all references to God removed for the safety of atheists.

GET REAL

REAL KNIVES MADE TO CUT PRY STAB WHATEVER.

You want pretty marry a supermodel.

you want work marry a farm girl. she dresses up just as nice but makes it so much easier to run the farm.

and if you want to say things like hey mick sounds tough, ever think it might be because he is?

the guy swallows his pride all the time to try and do the right thing. And personally i like to see him stand up and tell people who keep stepping up and calling his work ****** to go **** themselves.

and buddy if you think the lick my sack comment was a request for sexual favors ... what would you think if i told you to go blow yourself? that i was offering to pay for your yoga lessons?

jake

ps FWP till i drop.

Oh, I forgot to metion....Steel Addiction is not a shady operation by any means. Yes, I have a low post count. No, I'm not here to gang up on you BF guys. I lurk. I don't often get involved in stuff like this, but I feel that the whole situation is a Clusterf**k.
