Okay, time and time again the Strider supporters keep talking about the knife in question being a "gift", or a "bro" knife.

But nobody has produced an once of proof that this is true.
Strider said that maybe it's a gift knife, and now his supporters parrot that notion as gospel.

Prove it!

Allen

Allen,
So do you think that Mick and all of his supporters or worshippers as some of you have stated have no integrity??

I mean there are some pretty respected members of this forum and others that have said it was a bro knife. I guess any supporter of Strider is a liar?

The man is doing something good and getting spit on for it. Ask yourself this. Do you ever wonder why knifemakers get sick of the internet?

It is because of all the drama! The guy that started this thread knew what he was doing and it worked. He completed his mission of stirring crap.

I think the fact that Mick Strider's company is doing so well speaks to the quality of his knives. I don't believe people would continue to shell out $400 a pop for knives that didn't work or were of poor quality.

Mick doesn't need to defend the quality of his knives. It has already been proven.

This thread should of been locked 23 pages ago but then again this is BF.

I'm not a mind reader, but I don't think the guy who started this post was trying to start a war. He just pointed out some issues he had.

As a Consumer I appreciate that.

I guess I'm still a newbie of sorts, but one of the things that I really like about this forum was that as I am considering purchasing knives, I could come here and see other's experiences, without worrying about a Moderator trashing a thread just because he didn't like the PR a certain manufacturer was getting.

Like a Mod said a few pages back, the thread will die when the interest for this thread does.

We can differ in opinions, but I hate to see it get so personal, but then again that's what makes us humans.

Funny how the ol' keyboard adds a tone to our communication that is often not the same as in person.

Be Well.

The guy that started this thread knew exactly what he was doing. Just read a few posts back. The guy knew all he had to do was send the knife back.

BTW I don't type anything on these forums I wouldn't say to someone in person. There are some keyboard commandos around here but i am not one of them.

I don't know Mick and I only own one Strider, a folder. It was ugly the day I got it and hasn't got any prettier thru all the abuse I have put it through. It has never failed me and I would not part with it.

People share experiences with knives all the time. TONS OF KNIVES, both production and custom are discussed here, not just the good, but also the bad. Some reviews are negative, sometimes the bad is pointed out in a thread like this. Sometimes folks will say "you should have contacted the maker/manufacturer first" or whatever. Many times the maker or manufacturer will even hop on the thread and say "dang, that should not have gotten out, let us fix it". Not only does that show the willingness of the maker/mfg to take care of the customer, many times it will even help sell a few extra knives because people know that if they have problems, they will get personal attention.

Mickeys response was telling people to lick Mickey Junior.

I dont have any problems with him or folks who buy the knives. I do think however some (note, only some) have really shown that they aquire most of thier vocabulary from movies and Richard Marcinko books, and they just cant wait to sound really tough by using the new phrases they have learned. I mean the guy several pages back referring to others as ****stick...watch The-Green-Mile did ya? Those are the ones that really need to grow up. Talking tought and using your wannabe tough guy phrases does not make you BADDD.

Strider marks the knives they give away to people , but not all the time. Only Mick knows for sure. I know for sure on this one pictured here.... and this one is 100% purfect , well except for the scuffs from use... :D

There are bro knives , PAL knives and then just knives Mick gives away "because" .

selling a gift is just whack.

Tony,
What I'm saying is this:
Mick himself never said that it was a "bro knife" for certain.
He merely implied that it might be a "bro knife".

His actual words were:

"This knife is at LEAST second hand....who knows how beat the thing is. It may have even been gifted to someone....i have no way of knowing becuase it was not purchased through our dealer network."

(Mick said this in post #84 of this thread in case you want to check out the entire post yourself)

So I'm asking why is it that others on this forum are saying that it is a "bro knife" as if it is an undisputed fact?

And...

"The man is doing something good and getting spit on for it. Ask yourself this. Do you ever wonder why knifemakers get sick of the internet?"

I don't see that giving someone a knife that you could'nt sell because of the lousy job you did on the knife in the first place is such an admirable thing at all.

And the internet is the BEST thing to ever happen to knifemakers!
No other medium would be able to reach so many knife lovers, and offer as much exposure to the knifemaker's products, as the internet.

Tell me, just how many Strider ads have you heard on the radio or seen on TV?

"I think the fact that Mick Strider's company is doing so well speaks to the quality of his knives. I don't believe people would continue to shell out $400 a pop for knives that didn't work or were of poor quality."

You just don't get it...
The problem is NOT the knives...the problem is Strider's attitude.

Omega makes very nice watches, but if anyone representing that company told a customer to "lick his sack" on a public forum I would never buy an Omega watch again, regardless of how nice they are.

Allen.

Disappointing thread. I hate that feeling after spending my time reading thru it and find that nothing positive is learned.:thumbdn: :(

sorry to tell ya , but he knew what he was doing 100%.
Do you seriously think he has a grudge against Strider? If so, can you post a link or a quote showing that he has bashed Strider in the past. If you're going to make accusations like this, you have to be able to back it up somehow.

26 pages & all that was needed was a phone call...what a waste of 2 hours, & I had to read the whole f...ing thing..my bad, I'm goin to bed
p.s. to my bros

Sadly what this thread has done is sullied the denizens of BladeForums. Whatever the motives of the author of this thread, the resultant posts have only shown that dogpiling comes to no good. What is revealed is the dark underbelly of those who would chose to post anonymously again and again without stepping back to look at the facts. When cooler heads offered their insight, they have been rebuffed with the gang-like mentality of those whose vision is blinded by their dislike of the Strider knife company and Mick Strider.

With the abilitiy to post in this forum, you are by default, literate, computer savvy, and know something about knives. However, the behavior shown by some in this thread is more akin to school boys fighting on a playground.

With two posts, Mr Strider was able to get his point across succinctly, and many of you took the bait.

When this thread dies out, or is closed, Strider knives will continue to sell every knife they can make, and have hundreds, nay thousands, of satisfied customers. Those that are too lazy to make a phone call, consider all of the facts, or like to engage in the sport of Dogpiling will likely remain somehow unsettled. Those with the hubris of the self righteous will remain smug as they are blinded by their own vision.

There have been some posts by some very wise men and women whose advice has not been heeded. One only has to know who they are, and how long they have been around these forums to know how wise they really are. I have to say that I am also proud to have some of them as my friends and brothers. Yes, this does show my hand as to where my feelings lie, but I have known them long enough to be able to call them my friends.

What the thousands who read this thread but have not posted will see is a bunch of schoolboys behaving badly. It is within that context that I say shame on you, shame on you.

If what you're saying is true, but you're not willing to explain it a little better, then why are you posting at all?
