About the hate for Survive! Knives.

I keep trying to think of a clever way to tell the OP’s story where the guts of it is exciting… but that’s be a lie.

The guy just waited longer than the duration of the American Civil War.
Fr.. it should never take longer than an enlistment to make a knife.

Dude could've ordered the knife before he went to MEPS and been on VA disability before he saw the fucking thing.

I mean hell it took so long that the popular knife steel of the time changed and they had to play catch up lolol

My man, you are glossing over some of the realities here. First, he is breaking the law and is stealing. He's using people's money without their consent and not offering refunds as required by law. He's holding money as if it is an interest free loan. That interest is being collected by him. That money could have been making money or growing for the real owner.

Next, no credit should be given for following through, finally, after 6 years. No pat on the back for not just being a blatant thief. If that is your standard of acceptable, you must be an easy mark.

Further, survive is a quasi ponzi scheme run by a con-artist. One of the reasons why it works is that each individual scammed, is not out an amount of money that would draw attention from the authorities and is not worth individuals to make a big stink about. Survive does just enough to not trigger a big enough backlash. They fly under the radar. This is how the true con-artist operates. Do just enough to not get full on caught. Grift along in the background, scamming people and living a comfortable life.

Last, if survive were to stop delivering knives, close up shop, and move on to another scam (bigger even), they'd be fools. That is because the scam works. Take you as evidence.

It's almost as if you all want him to have not gotten his knife. To have been scammed like others.

I'm using it quite correctly.
lol no, sorry.

I would have much rather he got a refund like he should have when he was upset at getting scammed 6 years ago, that way survive would not have needed to scam at least one more current customer to fulfill that 6 year old ponzi scheme order.

And hey, want an even cooler story? Check out the discussion surrounding the post where our OP was asking about a refund 6 years ago: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...-time-estimates.1436034/page-59#post-16750861

Not much has changed, eh?
I feel like I say this every time a thread like this pops up, but yet again for the new folks, what craytab craytab is highlighting is precisely the reason for all the hate. When Survive first popped up practically the entire forum was enormously supportive and they were genuinely darlings of the community. Even when they first started to have issues LOADS of people gave them second, third, fourth and fifth chances. But the issues never stopped and the excuses keep flowing like water.

Fair enough.

I personally am not denying the scam here. I'm just saying finally getting your knife after 6 years is a cool STORY.

I realize that the guy got played, and so many others got out right scammed.

I ordered 2 Survive! knives in 2015 with a "6 month" wait time. In 2017, I was tired of waiting and began reading about other people's issues with Survive! here which left me quite concerned I wouldn't be getting my knives or my money back. I sent Survive! several emails over a period of a month or so without response, so I began calling their office. It took me almost 2 months from when I started my request for a refund to the point where they did, in fact, refund me my full purchase price for both knives. I washed my hands of Survive! and found myself quite happy with other blade makers that delivered a product I could actually use since the knife in hand is always better than the knife on backorder.

Fast forward to late 2021 - I start seeing updates from Survive! and watched some of their Youtube progress videos. I took a chance and ordered a Tac 4 and a Tac 5 in 2022 to see if their promise of being able to deliver knives within reasonable timeframes was reality or perhaps another dig for more money. I am not suggesting that anyone else should give them a second chance if they don't want to, nor do I think anyone is obligated to give any company a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc chance, but I will say both my Tac 4 and Tac 5 are in my possession. They are very well made - fit and finish are certainly well executed. I hope anyone else waiting for their knives actually receives them.

This is a loooong thread so forgive me if it's been covered but isn't magnacut fairly new? I didn't think it was around 6 years ago.

Survive! Knives plays Blanche Dubois in this ridiculous rendition of "A Street Car Named Desire".
They always get by on the kindness of strangers

This "you don't have to give them a second chance, but I did and wasn't disappointed" narrative is really missing the point.
I haven't even been following blade forums long enough to have watched it all unravel, but I read most of it, but I'll be damned if anyone's gonna say anything good about this company without me countering with the bad.

Time to make room for a company that hasn't trashed it's record and tarnished it's character.

Yo, I'll give you a third shot at "their product". I'm trying to sell an unused 5.1 as we speak. Buy this piece of shit 🤣 win win
