Wait so you got the knife from another member? So you dropped another approximate $180 even though this issue had not been resolved yet. Kind of fishy IMO can you post proof of this other transaction maybe get the guy you bought it from to post here.

Wait what? you have a link to a sales thread? for that other Spyderco you got there brother? Agreed sounds kinda weird you'd do that.

fluKeKe,

Nothing fishy here at all. I bought the knife originally as a gift for a very good friend. When Jack scammed me, I had to scramble to get another one quickly. The gentleman I bought it from, TomTerrific, has already posted in this thread. He vouched for our swift, fair transaction. Please don't jump to conclusions.

Its been over a month for him, I don't know about you but I want my fix NOW

Yes, after the problem with Jack, I desperately wanted to get the Vesuvius for my buddy so I bought it from another board member. I figured once the issue with jack was resolved, I'd at least get my money back or if Jack's vesuvius turned up, I'd keep that one.

oh ok, got the weight of the vesuvius, so like i said if you can show the label and total shipping weight, then show the weight of the chinese knife by itself, then show it in the shipping box including all packing materials you received with it and see if the weight matches, if it does , we know you got ripped. then post pics of your spyderco and put it in the same box and see if the weight is off, that's gonna your only way to prove anything besides copying and pasting e-mails here between you and the seller.

this is the label i just recieved on my new spyderco i just got in the mail today, might be blurry but you may can see the weight.

Agreed. I will do this all tonight/tomorrow. I'm glad I saved the package and the stuff it was wrapped in. I am assuming I will never see that $158, but my goal in doing this is to clear my name as Jack seems to have claimed that I scammed him somehow. Hopefully this will prove who the culprit is here.

outta curiousity could you throw that chinese knife on some scales real quick and post the weight of it ?

I don't think it should be a rule. I'd never pay with paypal gift, but if an international buyer wants a knife I'm selling, I will ONLY acept paypal gift. I've read just as many stories here on the forums about US sellers being scammed by international buyers, as I have read about situations like this. Paypal gift option protects US sellers from unscrupulous overseas buyers

Or unscrupulous US buyers. New members or members with little to no feedback, regardless of location, are always a red flag for me. I've had plenty of smooth transactions here and appreciate the ability to conduct these deals through this community, but I've grown increasingly leery of doing so. After seeing the type of shenanigans that can happen, I'm typically not willing to risk the status of my paypal account or the funds that I received after sending out an item that I'm never going to see again.

From what I understand, it's not difficult for a buyer to dispute the transaction with paypal and get a refund and put you out of an item and the funds. What is not completely clear to me in this situation is that even if the gift option were not used, and there was a confirmation of delivery, would Tony have been able to dispute this and get his money back?

6 pages and no wolfman.

let this be a learning lesson if nothing else.

i was scammed for $600 on evilbay last year

when all was said and done, i could've done a better job to avoid it.

same thing applies here.

I just recieved a knife in the mail today and it has the weight on it , so if you have digital scales and could weigh the box and the chinese knife and provide pics of the total weight, then get the weight of the spyderco and see if there would be a weight difference, your gonna need some scales, but like i said pics of that would really help your case in this thread.
As I was reading this thread that was exactly what I was thinking... However, unless wolfman12 mans up and does the right thing, I feel there is really nothing that you can do that would be worth your time and money. You can prove you got scammed, but I don't think you will get your knife, unless wolfman12 really cares about his reputation as a seller or if he feels guilty enough to do the right thing. Also, I was wondering, if a scammer got banned, could he come back under a different user name? Or would the website recognize his web address or something?I mean, it seems pretty pointless if they could.

Cole,

This is why I asked the mods about posting his name/address. I have not yet as to protect his privacy and give him a chance to respond here. I think it's safe to assume he's not, so once the mods ban him, I think it would be appropriate to post his name/address so if he does surface under another screen name, potential buyers would have his real name and address to set off red flags.

I've bought and sold hundreds of cigars on 2 different cigar boards over the years and never had an issue. I guess I assumed the same level of honesty and fairness here. Not saying BF isn't a great place. It definitely is. It's my own fault for being too trusting too quickly. A mistake I will never make again.

there's always a bad apple in the bunch brother.

It sounds like this guy knew exactly what he was doing, though given what I've read on here about his past history, I'd like to think that he'd make this right somehow. But, from the looks of things, it sadly doesn't look like this is going to happen.

Indeed. You might want to adjust your own tone control.
Good luck with your quest. This is the last time i'll try to help in one of these threads.

Just because everyone scams paypal out of fees, it makes it alright to do so?
Many here won't deal with individuals that use that option.

This is the very reason that I don't use the Paypal Gift option. The Paypal fees are worth the protection that you as a buyer get out of them. Though it sounds like tonyricciardi has learned his lesson here. As for not trying to help out in these threads anymore, I don't see why things need to go to that level. Sure you can offer advice, what people choose to do with it however is their choice. But I agree that the language was uncalled for. Regardless of if a person has apparently scammed you or whatever else they might have done, it's not a reason for your language to not be kept civil and respectable. Badmouthing the person needlessly and using derogatory terms toward them isn't going to make things any better, worse possibly, but not better.
