Bad Experience with wolf-man-12

Is there some reason that wolf man 12 cannot post his side of the story here? It simply makes no sense for the OP to start a thread like this if he were the guilty party. In my opinion he would say nothing and do nothing, certainly he would not notify the BFC community of a bad deal and would just sit back quietly and see what happens next.
BUT why would the OP buy a knife for $158 and get said knife and then claim he got a cheap knife in the mail? He bought the knife because he wanted that knife and if he got that knife it would be the end of the deal. If he wanted to scam the seller he could simply claim the box was empty or that the mail never arrived. And he would do all this to gain what, $158??? Maybe just an attention grabber????

I hear quacking in the distance...................................

And don't jump the gun, some folks work late, some work 16 hour shifts and some have a freaking life. The fact that he has yet to post photos means little..........................or alot or nothing.

In this case only one person is lying so it should be simple ONCE we hear directly from wolf man

Yes, Wolfman. I was at a client till late last night with a server problem.
For those interested here is a pic of the knife I was sent.

Hey man, I really feel sorry for you- but you can't prove anything without pics. As the saying goes here- "pics or it didn't happen". All I can think of is to contact the post office he shipped from. Have you done this yet?

I have contacted his post office. Because I was the recipient and not the shipper, I don't have any recourse with them.

I agree he promised pics when he got home, I was in this thread when i went to work and came right back to it, like someone else said pics or it didn't happen We can't prove something else either but I'm not gonna state what it as I don't wanna give anyone any ideas of something to do. All I can say is when i got scammed I was in the thread raising hell and telling people who the guy was, If I was being accused I wouldn't leave this thread until my name was cleared. Smells fishy

I was working late with a client. Pic has been uploaded.

Think twice about using the Gift payment ? I would think situations like this, would be enough to convince everyone NOT to use the Gift payment.

Him posting a picture of a cheap knife, whether it was one that was shipped to him or not, isn't going to prove anything.
However, because he said he would post pictures when he got home from work, he should follow through with it.

I agree. Posting a pic of the knife didn't really make sense to me either, but people asked for it, so I did. I agree it proves nothing.

Hrm, No pics, no attempt to contact USPS, the tide seems to be turning..

Duro, pic is uploaded. As I said in previous posts, I attempted to contact his PO but because I was not the shipper, I had no recourse with them. I contacted my Post Office and they have opened an investigation but they are telling me it's not looking good as the package was signed for. All they care about is that SOMETHING was sent to me. Therefore, there job is done in their eyes. He bought the insurance so it's up to him to follow through with the insurance claim. He claims he did with no resolution.

I don't know why he's not responding in this thread. We know he's been on the site and we know he's read this thread. He's chosen to only respond to certain people and with short, unclear answers. I agree, if someone was accusing me of being a scammer (and I was innocent) I would be all over the boards clearing my name. I can only assume, he has no answers or he knows the more we dig the more we'll find.

Too bad you couldn't have the knife fingerprinted, maybe it could establish a connection between him and knife. Course, if it was wiped clean before being sent, it wouldn't show a thing. Then there's also the problem of needing his fingerprints.

Seeing that this post was misconstrued at least once, I just wanted to edit this to add that this was not meant to be taken literally. It was just meant to commiserate/give moral support to the OP.

I do a search on the forum (and elsewhere) whenever I'm considering dealing with a private party or business that I've not dealt with before. I suggest that everyone does. From now on, wolf-man-12 will show up as a scammer. I'll never deal with him (and he's probably going to cry himself to sleep tonight, lol).

I think that it should be a rule of the forum that one can't use Paypal Gift as a means of payment. It's a violation of PP's TOS and offers no protection to the buyer in these cases.

Thanks for the heads-up Tony. Sorry for your loss.

i asked for it, and thanks for posting. as i said in my post asking for the pic...... it proves nothing and answers no questions.......just wanted to see what was said to be sent......i was just curious.....nothing more nothing less.....thanks for posting. that is all on that issue.;)

i am amazed wolfman12 hasn't said anything, on this post. even a "i am not going to participate on this" type of response. his lack of involvement to me is not helping him, imho. if he says he did nothing of the sort he is being accused of and his rep is being tarnished....why wouldn't he defend himself?

i also call maybe b.s. on the showing the knife to postal workers. unless he lives in a tiny country town where everyone knows each other?

he hasn't gone down to the flea market yet to grab a $10 knife for the picture :).

That was the idea I was referring to that I wasn't going to mention in my previous post, now not bashing the OP but can you prove that's the knife you received , Instead of the knife the guy says he sent you, right now things are looking like your telling the truth giving the sellers not posted a single thing in this thread, but you have any way to prove that's the knife you really received. I'm not calling you a liar , but like the above posts said just a pic of a knife means nothing. I'd still call paypal and tell them what you did your probably S.O.L. but worth a shot.

As i posted before I live in a very small town and my postman is a family friend and fellow knife nut. Sometimes when I bring my knives in I'm selling or trading hell ask if he can see them and I'll let him, but he's a family friend, so if he has a situation like mine that part of the sellers story may be true either way He's responsible for either the right knife or the cash for the right knife if the buyer can prove, that knife in the pic is truly the knife he got. On another note on another forum i frequent there is a sticky that warns against paying using the personal or gift option and warns the buyer to use at it's his one risk as it offers no protection in the event you are scammed. I was scammed out of a Emerson super cqc-8 forgot how much i payed for it, Thank goodness I didn't gift it and the seller didn't get a dc# on my knife so i one my case no questions asked through paypal.

Allen,

I have emails in to Paypal. I'm hoping there's something they can do. Regarding proving my innocence, if there's anything else I could do, I would. If you can think of something I haven't yet done, please tell me and I will oblige.

does the package have a weight on it? if it does can you weigh the box and the chinese knife to see if the weight matches up, if it matches up we know he sent you the chinese knife, we would also need to know the weight of the spyderco knife and the weight of the box to see if there would be any difference in weight, thats also what helped me win my case, when i was scammed. Also screw e-mails with paypal go to the conact us page get your one time passcode and call them, a person on the phone can tell you more in 30 seconds than 5 or 6 e-mails.

I think that it should be a rule of the forum that one can't use Paypal Gift as a means of payment.

I don't think it should be a rule. I'd never pay with paypal gift, but if an international buyer wants a knife I'm selling, I will ONLY acept paypal gift. I've read just as many stories here on the forums about US sellers being scammed by international buyers, as I have read about situations like this. Paypal gift option protects US sellers from unscrupulous overseas buyers (I don't mean for that to sound like ALL overseas buyers are no good, I'm sure most have great feedback). If an overseas buyer agrees to assume all responsibility once the item has left the US, and then the knife gets stopped/stolen at their customs, by paying with regular paypal, they can simply call and reverse the charge because the knife was never delivered (even though they agreed that the knife doesnt have to be delivered, but only tracked the the US border). Paypal doesn't care about agreements reached prior to shipment. In these situations (which have indeed happened), the seller can be out a lot of money. Paypal gift DOES have its place.

I just recieved a knife in the mail today and it has the weight on it , so if you have digital scales and could weigh the box and the chinese knife and provide pics of the total weight, then get the weight of the spyderco and see if there would be a weight difference, your gonna need some scales, but like i said pics of that would really help your case in this thread.

That's a great idea Allen. I have since bought another Vesuvius. The one I was supposed to get from him was serrated. The one I bought since is not, but I'm sure the weights are very similar. I'm also certain that the Chinese knife weighs more than both Vesuviuses. This could be my vindication. I will check the labeling on the box and make sure weight is listed and then weigh the vesuvius as well as the chinese knife and compare. I have a dinner with friends tonight so I may not be able to post the results till sat evening, but I will definitely put them up once I have it all done.

Thanks again, Allen. That's a great idea.

Wait so you got the knife from another member? So you dropped another approximate $180 even though this issue had not been resolved yet. Kind of fishy IMO can you post proof of this other transaction maybe get the guy you bought it from to post here.
