Bark River has taken $16,000 of My Money

Well. A lot has gone on in this thread and I now have the opportunity to say something:

Today I received a Cashier's Check From Mike Stewart for $16,000. I have already deposited it in the bank and don't expect there to be any problems with it clearing.

SnarlSlayer

Good news Steve, I’m glad to see it worked out for you.

Hooray, the money has been repaid. However, based on MS's responses on the other forum he is, in my book, a man who lacks integrity and credibility.

That makes him a 100% pure slimeball in my lacking of character opinion..............................................and that won't change anytime soon.

Congratulations, SnarlSlayer, on receiving your $16,000 back. :)

I guess apologies are in order to MS to all who said he wouldn't pay up. Lets see who's first.

I think Mike paid up because he saw that public sentiment was not on his side. This situation was becoming a public relations nightmare. The best way to make it go away was to pay up. I sincerely believe that if Steve had not taken this whole thing public, he would not have his money right now. However, I am happy to see that he did end up doing the right thing.

Can someone PM me with a link to this unnamed other forum's thread?

You need to read -this- thread first, namely the part where several moderators have said that we dont need to cross-link forums. It's not hard to figure out, on your own.

Soooo who's getting a new Bravo-II??
Bravo_2_AIM.jpg

Sorry couldn't resist:foot:

Cross linking is POSTING the link, not answering a polite request for a PM.

my expierence.............
mr. mike,
i appreciate the job you did on my lil nessy & on the re-handle of the mikro2. i was excited when i got them back. but one thing has been bothering me. i was'nt going to say anything & ive sent payment for the services (which you should have received by now w/ my black bravo1 sheath for an exchange)...

but according to this thread the refinish on the lil nessy should have been warrantied
http://www.knifeforums.com/forums/s...

i was charged a very very reasonable fee ($12) for this service.

i understand that you have knives coming & going outta the shop that you never see. i also understand that some fall the cracks. i just wanted to bring this to your attention because while i have'nt lost any sleep over it...it still bothers me to a slight degree & let you know the community you have here is great!

i think there is some confusion here.
i have my knives back.
i received the lil' nessy & mikro already w/ an invoice for the rehandle & warranty work.

i talked to reid about a sheath exchange & he told me to contact you.

i remitted payment for the invoice i was sent(with the 2 knives i sent in) & also enclosed a black bravo1 sheath you said i could exchange for a tan one.

my only question was about being charged for warranty work....& on 5/28 you told me via PT that the invoice was canceled...only to find out my check had been deposited on 5/27....

i really am not trying to be a pain in the ass. i just want everything to be cleared up and addressed.

thanks for your time,
phillip

I guess I'm still Confused.

this sounds like a total Goatrope to me.

If you sent a check--Donna would automatically Deposit it.

I didn't understand that you had already sent a check.

I will have to try to sort it out.

You are due a Bravo sheath and the money back--Right?

Philip,

After I posted that last nght I remembered that Donna has already sent the Sheath.

I talked to her Monday and she showed me the Sheath already in the shipping Bag for the post office.

Sorry you were Disappointed but I did not let it slip By.

The Passing of My Dad and settling his affairs has had me very distracted in the last two weeks.

cody1 and 3G I'm with you 150%. What unit? Marine Corps Recon is not some super secret SEAL Team 6 kind of unit. They are specialized Infantry, they hold an 03 MOS, etc. I want to know what unit of Recon or at least where they're from. Otherwise I proudly raise the BS flag.

And just so everyone's clear. Breech of contract, scumbag, no honor, etc.

He stated it was the "Training Unit" of Marine Recon that secretly tested the knives, found the BRKT Gameskeeper to be the winner of the group tested, requested the modifications be made, and purchased the new knife (the Bravo 1).

Well alrighty then. WTF

I can't believe I read this entire thread (& the one on the "other knife forum" that shall not be named). Even more amazing is that I kept my mouth shut because I really didn't have anything good to say.

However, I'm glad that SS got his 16K back.

I wonder what being a felon has to do with making knives. Ownership of firearms, yes. I guess you think the government doesn't want ex-cons to be able to spread their butter or dice their carrots.

I don't believe it's a federal law, but some states won't allow a felon to own/possess a knife. Sometimes it's only while they're on felony parole/probation. I believe they can make knives, though, just not own/possess them if that's what the state's law says.

Well alrighty then. WTF

it took me from 5/22 to 6/7 to be charged for warranty work....

Wolfman is right. SS funded those knives and should have received the profit from them as well. Yes, Mike Stewart is a slimeball to his very core, and this is Standard Operating Procedure for him.

The only reason Steven as his money back is because of the pressure brought to bear here. Clearly, Stewart doesn't want any more of the facts leaking out about him.

I stand by everything I've said about him here, as I have given you honest information. Hyken and Stewart lie enough for all of us.

Whether MS decided to do it because of pressure, or he just decided to do it, it's done. SS has his money back.

Whether anyone decides to do further business with BRKT is up to them. Certainly voice your opinion about MS's business practices, but maybe we can refrain from the ad hominem remarks so as not to dirty this forum more than has already been done?

Just an idea.

well i for one am happy SS got his $$ back though imho he is also due at least some interest on it and possibly damages from the broken contract, but i suppose he is ecstatic just to get the $16K back, i know i would be.

also, i for one collect and swap knives for fun, and having to deal with folks like stewart to me takes some of the fun outta the whole deal, so i wont ever be owning any "barkys" imho there is simply way too many honest companies to deal with to waiste my time dealing with folks like stewart, plain and simple.

glad i took the time to go thru all this.............
