BF2020 Blade Etch

Roman numerals were used in 2009!

MMXX. Looks good.

If Mike (who is being so good as to arrange all this and is willing to lend us his expertise here) and someone else with practical M390 experience suggest that a tang etch is a bad idea for technical reasons, I think we should exclude it from further discussion. After all, the construction of this knife is not quite like the full-traditional slipjoints many of us are used to.

I agree the etch should be subtle rather than a large billboard, particularly since we’re talking about laser on stainless here. No flitzing this one off or hiding it with patina if it’s not to everyone’s taste.

BladeForums2020... Small print on the Pile Side of the blade.
Just like Mike did with his CK logo on the Mark Side of the blade.
I also wouldn't mind if Mike still left his logo on the Mark Side (if rules allow).
You get the idea.

This is the ticket. Would love to see this mocked up.

I feel like the blade etch should look like the BladeForums logo, rather than whatever random font someone chose. (No offense to those of you who have done mockups so far, but personally I don’t like any of the fonts we’ve seen.)

Obviously we wouldn’t want the whole thing on there (as the smaller text probably wouldn’t be legible), but if we could isolate the “BladeForums” portion of the logo (or replicate it in the same font) and make it looks good, it could be placed either next to the Viper logo (like the “CK Edition” etch on Mike’s knives) or on the pile side of the blade.

Obviously this is just my two cents, but I think that would look much more professional (and more fitting laser etched on this modern-traditional hybrid knife) than just having the words BladeForums etched on there in Times New Roman or something.

Here’s the sort of thing I had in mind. (It would have to be done better, and by someone who knew how to make it into a vector graphic, but this at least gives a general idea.)

I’ll see if I can add it to a photo of the blade with the Viper logo.
