Brad Duncan Custom Knives = NO HONOR! Beware!

I think that all those dealers should receive emails providing them with links to these threads so that they can take a look at who it is they are dealing with.

What is this, National Guilt By Association Week? You know where that leads, don't you? It doesn't take many steps of association before you're forced to boycott yourself.

I sent a Mini Whiplash to him to have dual thumb studs on it, and had no problems. He got knife Mini Whip done, and sent back to me, no problem. I also placed an order with him, after discussion options that I want. He did not ask for money. He did explain that he is backed up. I said no problem, I would wait.

You KNOW he knows better than to mess with YOU !!! :D

People should start contacting the Duncan dealers and tell them that they should no longer carry his products. Dealers might get more of a response.

As for his wife...birds of a feather my friends...and not to be cliche but if Duncan has kids they like the apples will not fall far from the tree, and so on and so forth.

I'm pretty confident that one of the dealers listed has no direct contact with Brad Duncan or about 90% of the custom knife makers whose knives they are currently selling.

Everything about Brad himself aside for a moment, I can't agree with a scorched earth approach when it comes to the dealers. Contacting them to express the problems being encountered is one thing, considering all of them to be enabling is quite another. One should consider that knives listed on some of those sites could come by way of trade or be there on consignment. If a dealer was listing one Duncan knife that a customer consigned are they directly enabling Brad's bad behavior? Or are they just trying to help sell a knife for a customer as part of their regular business practices? Just seems a bit much to paint anyone listing his knives with the same broad brush.

you cant blame the dealers that BD is an ass, most probably have $$ tied up in duncans wares, just like they have $$ tied up in other assholes wares ie steve corkum. i imagine they wish they didnt have $$ invested in a smith w/a bad rep, that cant help the desirability of said smiths work, some sites have had the same stuff from corkum for yrs,

i do agree with letting them know WTF about this situation though.

as far as BD not asking for $$ up front, he sure demanded it of me in the summer '05, i remember his brother had just ripped off some folks, and no matter how much i wanted one of BD's knives no way i pay him (or anyone else FWIW) up front. thank goodness i passed.

the quality varied on his srtuff quite widely anyway, i have seen some top notch stuff, and other stuff not so great.

he's another smith who had a shot of making a living at this and screwed his own self in the long run, i suppose, like corkum, & others, being a fair smith dont mean ya are a business man.

again, never ever pay up front, if a smith asks for $$ up front its a red flag, beware, i have had a custom or 2 made and duncan was the 1st to ever ask for $$ up front FWIW, imho a legit smith wont do that.

Everyone should come to their own conclusons with regards to how they spend their money and to whom they choose to buy any particular piece of merchandise from. Perhaps the dealers can raffle off his junk. Etch the blades with "Duncan Fire Sale 2008" and give the proceeds to flak jackets for our troops, or firefighter widows, or vests for our peace officers. Make lemonade out of lemons and get a tax write off on the wholesale cost the dealer paid to recoup some losses? There ARE ways to fix things.

You shouldn't be pointing fingers towards the dealers:confused:Imagine what they go through with Brad. They just carry his product, If they get it after 500 empty promises:rolleyes:
This BullSh*& has been going on for years on end with Duncan's lack of communication and his way laps time frame on getting knives to customers. This is nothing new with Brad,
A search on any forum would save lots of aggravation;)
I'd like to get a running list of custom knife dealers who continue to have relations with this scumbag thief and list his merchandise for sale on their websites. Perhaps we can get an answer from them as to how they get responses from him. Better yet, perhaps we can encourage them to quit carrying his goods until he gets his head out of his rectum and his hands out of our wallets! Here's a brief google search of the dealers who seem to like him. For obvious reasons, I will NEVER purchase any other maker's knife from any dealer who continues to list his wares as CURRENTLY available on their site and will advise everyone I deal with to do the same. They are accomplices as long they promote this thief. I'll update it if anyone knows of anyone else.

Yikes! I guess the intention is that with enough 'boycotting' the dealers will act together as a posse and get Brad to clean up his act.

Not what they need. And what of the knives they own (and any other collector) now? Just make them worthless?

At the end of the day, just take note of what has transpired and if this pisses you off, do as I do: Just don't buy a Duncan knife. No more needs hashing.

I don't feel that the dealers are doing anything wrong in selling the Brad Duncan knives that they have in stock, but do think that they should be informed of what kind of person they are dealing with.

Oh! They already know Kieth.
This is like a Duncan/knifenutCollector) boxing match= It's Round? But Brad may be Out for the Count

I think dealers know, I remember back to another Duncan thread a year or two ago when the dealer was selling Duncan at a discount, but not disclosing the quality problems.

My feeling is dealers can decide for themselves if they want the baggage associated with selling this or any other particular brand of knives.

Arizona Custom Knives does not currently have any Brad Duncan knives for sale. Any Duncan knives sold on our site in recent months have been consignments, and we will continue to help our customers sell their Duncans just like any other knives. We haven't put any orders in with Brad in years and don't plan to in the future.

I just wanted to clarify things and let you know we were aware of the situation.

It's a shame. I've always said that our industry is riddled with people who are good at making knives and bad at running businesses. It takes more than a good product to have a successful business.

I consider myself VERY lucky, in sending my knife in, that I got it back!! I feel horrible for the people that ARE having serious problems with him!!

This is really good to hear..... Not planning to purchase any Brad Duncan knives in the future. Nice going Arizona Custom Knives: cool:

I also applaud Arizona Custom Knives for not continuing to stock Brad Duncan Knives. Consignments have, in my opinion, nothing to do with Brad Duncan. I merely wish to identify dealers who are rewarding and enableing Brad Duncan's borderline criminal behavior by continuing to stock NEW items and putting NEW money in his pocket. Knowing ACK's honorable and public position on this topic encourages me to move them to the top of my (short) custom knife dealer list.
