I also applaud Arizona Custom Knives for not continuing to stock Brad Duncan Knives. Consignments have, in my opinion, nothing to do with Brad Duncan. I merely wish to identify dealers who are rewarding and enableing Brad Duncan's borderline criminal behavior by continuing to stock NEW items and putting NEW money in his pocket. Knowing ACK's honorable and public position on this topic encourages me to move them to the top of my (short) custom knife dealer list.
Did it ever occur to you that perhaps dealers might have advanced Duncan money as well and only received some of the knives they paid for? Trying to sell the Duncans they still have may be the only way to get some of that money back. Some of them may well be in the same situation that you're in. When purchasing from dealers, personally I prefer, whenever possible, to purchase NEW knives (as in new from maker) at NEW (again as in new from maker) prices as opposed to knives being sold at NEW prices but may have been owned by several people previously (although they may in mint condition).
In any case, how is it that consignments are any different? By design anyone who bought a Duncan knife put "NEW money" in his pocket at some point so a dealer selling even a used Duncan is just perpetuating this cycle. Right?
Again, I'm very sorry about the current situation between you and Brad and I definately agree that he's a jackoff but this picking favorite dealers based on whose knives you don't want them to carry instead of things like whose they do and the level of service they offer is just ridiculous.
I going to agree to disagree here....
