Buck's Kustom Knife Shop IS still OPEN!

My new Marlin is VERY sweet----seems Benchmade will be getting most of my business---not really all that interested in Buck's standard offerings---only the customs:(

As I sit here with a Cabela's AG110 hanging off my belt--that I paid all of $65 for. Glad I still have a NIB spare sitting in the cabinet.

My pay hasn't gone up---seems like everything else is-----well the Marlin has been $500 consistantly for while a while now. I got a nice .22 because all other ammo is outrageous now.

Would also like to thank all those former and currently in the service for their service---esp the WWII vets as there aren't many left anymore.

...They're all your's Clint...Have fun...

...Nice thought Mike...Perhaps if that were something done "solely" through the BCCI website, which is available only to members, it may have been feasible...Even the mention of it in a public forum gives me the "willies"...But then why would Buck even entertain an idea like that??...
I guess what bothers me the most is that there was no prior notice to those that use it the most that the re-opening of the custom shop would bring significant increases in the pricing. We're talking something in the neighborhood of 130% increase and more. That's more than a simple inflationary increase.

I'm curious to get a report from someone that gets a knife out of the custom shop after the price increase as to the quality of the finish. At the new prices they should be darn near perfect.

...All I know is that I, personally, cannot afford nor justify paying out that kind of an increase so that review will have to come from someone of much greater means than me. The knife I paid $124 for a few months back will now cost me over $400...That's not justifiable in my eyes. I couldn't possibly buy something at that price and not have someone or something in my household suffer...but that's just me...:(

Hmmm, $288 for Stag inlays, here's some pics from a knifemaking supplier...for less than $40 a pair

...Scott...I've been seeing them all over the place. I myself have 4 sets that I got for $90 a month or so ago...Go figure huh?...

I really really want to order a CS with Ram horn and S30v blade. BUT, I hate to pony up the funds after the price spike. Oh geez, what do I do.....

Custom Shop 110 with S30V, sambar stag and leather sheath - $390.00
Cabela's Alaskan Guide 110 with S30V, stag and leather sheath - $154.99

I wonder where I'll be shopping?

Actually, I'm as upset over the lack of a BG-42 blade option as the ludicrous price increases. My only reason for ordering from the CS was the BG-42 blade. Was there any indication that it would disappear?

Buck owes me no explanation of how they do business, but I sure have a bad feeling about how this re-organization of the CS was handled. However, I get to vote with my dollars and I'll not spend any more at the CS.

Joe? Is that you????

I don't know how to set it up, but a poll of whether forum members that have ordered customs in the past would order from the custom shop at the new prices would be interesting.

Just a thought: perhaps the price increases are a tactful way of shutting down the custom shop. If die hard Forum Buckaholics do not intend to patronize.....who will?

Dave certainly has this right. You can bet your last Buck that the folks on the mountain are not losing any sleep over this issue or staying home over the Memorial Day weekend to monitor this forum. A BCCI newsletter (June) should be due out soon, so perhaps an explantion will be forthcoming in that.

Do you guys think that it would help if Buck happened to soften the blow by offering past Custom Shop buyers (or bladeforum members) a window of opportunity to purchase the knives at pre website change prices?

This would help to alleviate the bitter feelings of long time customers (imagine the guys who were trying to buy while the site was down and they find this happened) and it would get them the knives they were wanting at a great price...possible a HUGE influx of orders for Buck because the customers would know that they have only a month or so to get them at the old prices.

I personally think that this is a fair option. It's definitely Buck's choice on what to price their products, however it was definitely a bad move to make such a HUGE increase in price without any notification to loyal customers.

If you guys think that it's a good idea, why don't you email Buck with this option. Maybe they will hear and possibly give you this option...AND still get to keep the prices they want on the web. Maybe it could be done through phone ordering?

Eventually everyone will forget what the prices "used" to be and accept the new ones if they at least were given the option of getting what they wanted before the prices were jacked up.

Think about it. :)

...Yep...This is the finest time to have a bunch of people shell out some hard earned dollars to stock up on Custom knives. This is also one of the best economic times I can remember to do so with our dollar doing so well and oil being so reasonable...Go for it aza...I'll eventually be thinking Sebenzas are cheap too...

My Honda VTX motorcycle website provider is offering HUGE discounts on parts for Memorial weekend.Guess i'll go spend some money over there.I've collected a few Collectors choice knives over the years.Sure glad i hung on to them as they seem way pricey now.May be a good time to sell them off in a few weeks.I wonder if the employees got a raise out of the deal.Hope so.

i am new in here but i know that there are some customs from the custom shop i would like and still can afford. a polished 440hc with asian water buffalo and fg with serrations & silver bolsters is only $179.00. thats a not too bad $$$ wise but a knife i can't buy anywhere else. isn't that why you buy a "custom" to have something others don't normally have??? JMHO....
