And let’s not forget the shipping nightmare this would be. I’d insist we pay the shipper for mailing 1200 knives.

And then the complaints… “I’m returning this knife for its lack of bunny.”
 
Serialization of the knives won’t make a difference to the flippers and it won’t prevent it one little bit. The people flipping don’t care and don’t really see any suffering. Members have been outed by myself several times over the past few years, complete with screenshots and all sent to the mods proving who flipped knives.

Guess what? Those same people haven’t been stopped from buying and their forum knives are on ebay almost immediately. A serial number? That won’t matter and honestly it’s setting some people up to set values based on the number itself. When Charlie announced they may be serialized there were immediately 2 pages worth of posts “claiming” certain numbers, several wanting “007”.

Some of those members were stopped, they were permanently banned from BF’s.

Yeah, nothing's going to stop it 100%, but it's nice to know an effort is made.

I don't know if the serial number will make a difference in discouraging flipping, but I still think it's kinda neat. I don't put much stock in the "1 of 1000" type numbering, since it just reminds me of Parker Prototype shenanigans, but seeing all the members posting pics of their uniquely numbered knives could be fun.

I will be up for whatever number lands in my mailbox. The only real issue I see is that WValtakis WValtakis will have to figure out how to engrave around it on his!

I think that kind of symbolical randomness is the main fun of serialized knives/things! Not sure if I would be happy about something like triple six, though... 🙃 But our subject is not the case for such numbers.

I think that's entirely fair! If our numbers built reached that high, maybe they'd just do like they do in some countries where the hotels/buildings don't have a 13th floor, just skips right to 14th! Of course, then you get the guy who got #667 and he's like "I COULDA HAD SOMETHING CONTROVERSIAL!" and he vows never to participate again! 🤣
 
there are always going to be some bad actors unfortunately, and it sucks that these people dont actually care for knives just the perceived $$$.

Back in high school, we could choose our own lockers. You just brought a lock on the first day of school, and tried to figure out which one was closest to most of your classes. Except for the handful of goths who would race to locker #666 to be the first to claim it. My brother almost always won. 🤣
 
I didnt even try for the forum knife last year. Even though I love Barlows, I knew I did nothing to deserve one. I been trying to change that. Actually been buying and posting more. Hopefully I can score my 1st. I have been collecting GECs for 2 years now. Still a rookie compared to some of you guys 😆

I have a 001 of my own knife, but a couple of times during my life, I've been offered a pic of serial numbers, and couldn't think of anything! 🤣

I did used to have that T-shirt though, it was a bit small, so I gave it to my neighbour 😳🤣👍
