"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Sorry to hear about your dog leghog but I'd bet he was far from just a dog - most likely a very important part of the family and a favorite companion.

Losing a friend is definitely tough, sorry to hear that leghog, one of the doctors in the clinic I work at, lost both of his dogs just months apart. cancer took em. long battle for one, the other sorta just stopped eating one night and was gone within a few weeks.

Hey everyone, just got off the phone with our pal Randy. They managed to catch it in time, cleaned it out good. They were able to get it before he went septic. He still has both hands and arms so hell be able to keep on jamming. No need to send him a switchblade just yet! However he well need to go to a nursing home facility for a few weeks to get iv antibiotics to make sure he is free from infections. That and hell get some rehab. He'll be back soon. We'll keep his seat on the porch warm for him

Thanks for that update on Randy, Jack. The news is not as good as I hoped for, but much better than it could be!:D

Hang in there, Randy, and do your best to follow the rehab protocols. Hope to see you back on The Porch real soon!

It's been a momentous couple of weeks for us here in Scotland - my in laws have finally made the move to Scotland from across the Irish Sea. Claire and I have brought the kids and the dog to assist with moving into their new home in Aberdeenshire. They still have no internet so my porch visits have been sporadic and my posts even more so (phone signal dependant).

Their new pad is pretty isolated.

Very nice. Be careful or we'll all come over.

I have regretfully shelved another year's medieval congress program (52nd).
The last session I attended was about the Dream of Rhonabwy, which I read once, decades ago, with great earnestness.
Turns out I was wasting my time looking for mysterious Celtic meaning. The whole thing is a ridiculous spoof of the oral story-telling tradition. Which you can see at a glance on any page, if you aren't too earnest.

Wow Paul, that's a pretty big move for your in-laws, I never thought you'd get them out of Norn Iron! Glad the move has gone ok, and hope they settle into their new home happily

Bummer Leghog
Will you get a new pup maybe in a while?
JB I tried the teardrop mirror shades but the director said no.We caught a spider in the dressing room which I christened MACBETH.
Superstition is alive and well.
Two others still at the house. My six year old half lab/half beagle and my son's 19 month old mutt my wife and I call "crackhead". They are both great dogs and good buddies.

I was on break at work around 9 a.m. this morning, and something told me to check the exchange.
I didn't listen.

It sold 20 minutes after my break ended.

I would have been able to grab The #98 Camp knife (in the bone color I want), for an acceptable amount...

The knife gods tried, and I didn't listen. Now I am paying by not paying...

Bob and Randy, Wishing yuo the best from NJ. Hopefully brighter skies are on the horizon.

Leg, I have had share of pups lost in my lifetime and it never gets easier, just particular as each pup was. I hope you and your family are doing well and know that we consider dogs extended family and our condolences and best wishes are being sent.

Meako, Best of luck. If you have fun, the others will do the same.

Feel free, it's not my house! :D

Claire and I have made bets on how long it will last - she thinks about six months, I reckon they'll last out the winter then pack it in before the next. The foot of the Cairngorms here gets cold!

Rustic idyll!

Makes this place look like the Med at the moment.....:D:D

Spring here is nearly a month late and it's beginning to unsettle everybody...just about some grass reappearing and a crocus or two in sheltered spots. Last Thursday it got down to -7C at the country place at night and even when sunny it's a cold dry North wind blowing.

Mind you, Nature is what it is, unstoppable. The other day I saw these two large Hares out in the parking area of my place in the town centre, not bothered by much these urban dwellers:thumbsup:
