"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

Just watched the news and of course the main story was about the Las Vegas shooting. I can not get in my head how a person could just slaughter innocent people. My heart and prayers go out to those families that lost loved ones and those that were injured as well all those that had to live through such a horrific event. These folks were just having a fun evening out and never in their wildest dreams even thought of something like this happening. I guess it goes to show you just never know what's going to happen next.

You hit the nail on the head, especially with your last sentence Randy: I would add 'so make the most out of life while you can.' to it. (Seems like we just had this conversation....)

It was a beautiful morning here (as well as day) I have a thing about taking pictures around my house so I hope I don't bore you by posting them here. The first is the side yard this morning the second was off the back deck I wish the Mountains in the background had shown up better.

And since this is a knife forum here's a gratuitous knife picture. :D

Nothing boring about those pics Randy. It looks so tranquil. We're into a stretch of nice weather now too up this way. Cool mornings with bright sunny days. At least until Saturday, then expecting some rain to move into the area.

You know your the reason for all those coins and what kind of 1911 coin would you have me put there because we both know it wouldn't be a silver dollar. :D:D:D

Nice photos, Randy; things look good up on Redden Mountain!:cool:
The third photo is also cool, but suggests that you're a pirate at heart!!;):D

You are truly making me pity you in your sad, boring retirement. I am still at work at 7:30 PM and my view is of the inside of a large business facility with conveyor lines and forklifts whizzing around.

John have you thought about trying your hand at the lottery? :D:D:D
I am a pro at the lottery. I have it down to a science. I can glance at the billboards and I immediately know exactly how much money I would have, after taxes, and after divvying it up with family in an equitable manner so that no one will come knocking for their "share," including how much I could spend right away vs. how much would go into long-term savings to provide me with an annual income. I have figured out every detail, including hiring lawyers, accountants, setting up an alternate address, where to live, what to do with the money, everything. If you ever hit the big jackpot, come to me first. I will be happy to share. No fee, just the joy of making sure you don't make any mistakes.

I used to actually buy lottery tickets every once in a while, until I realized that I could still fantasize about all of that stuff for free and never spend a penny. ;)

I have only bought a couple of Powerball or Mega Millions tickets in my life. I do buy an occasional scratch off and about 5 years ago I bought a $5 scratch off and won $1000. Well come to find out you have to cash anything over $600 at a lottery office. We have an office here so I went down to cash it and they gave ne a check minus state taxes. It was still over $900 pretty good score for a five dollar ticket so of course I started spending it in my mind. When I got home I showed my wife and she said she was going to the bank and asked if I wanted her to take care of it. I was basking in my lucky day winning a $1000 and did not even have to cash it my wife was taking care of it. So I endorsed the check and gave it to my wife who promptly deposited it and I never saw a dime.:D:D

haha my mom loves the scratch card games. she cant read very well but occasionally as a treat we buy like $20 worth of scratch cards for her to play. i think the most we've won has got to be like $10 bucks ever. we've been on a terrible losing streak but its all for fun.

like a few months ago maybe last year, we all bought tickets for that billion dollar jack pot. it went up to like 1.2 billion i think, but hey all you need is a dollar and a dream! we are out like $70 but still dreaming :D:oops:

A local barber won twice, each time $100,000 tax free. About two years apart IIRC. I asked him how he spent it, first win bought his mom a new house, he never said about the second win but I suspect he gambled it away since he was a frequent visitor to Biloxi and Cherokee.
