Bad Caution when dealing with Bladerunner7

Oddball question, but if you literally just tried firing it as it got to the door... how cold was it?

I think you were wrong to open up the knife, but I don't see anything in this thread so far that couldn't be explained by some mildly unwarranted crabbiness on each side. I don't see any reason to disbelieve you when you say that you didn't think about opening it up and that you would never have attempted to return it if you had damaged it in doing, but now you know that disassembly voids the warranty, so you shouldn't do that until you've decided to keep it. The OP has his knife. You have your knife. Both of you are now happy, it seems. So maybe you should both just let this one go now and call it lessons learned.
It wasn't cold at all. Good question though.

Yes I agree. I jumped the gun and got arrogant in the face of feeling ripped off. I openly admit to that and I have been very open about everything from the beginning. Even when I didn't make me look good like oiling it. I knew it was a mistake and didn't need to mention it but I did.

I thought this was all over in the original thread and through my text to him that his knife was shipped on Tuesday. I guess he decided it was too much to deal with and had to post this all here to try and make me look bad (admittedly not hard to do here).

I actually wasn't going to post here about you. The idea was given to me by a member here and I even contacted a mod before doing so asking if it was out of line at all. He had no issues and said it wasnt out of line at all.

The hyperbole of people that want to remain supposedly offended by someone else's manufactured slight based on a minor infraction of internet protocol vs behaving like men who actually like to tinker and take things apart to fix things instead of fondle precious ornaments of status has given me whiplash.

But, you know, for comic relief, there's always this to keep us grounded:
It also allowed a few truly horrible people to come out of the woodworks in support of this “dude.” They are all straight up trashy for that.

Your damn right i wont admit the action was bad because it never was. The action dosen't magically change over what was maybe a month that I had the knife? Thats why the previous owner was still relevant.
Exactly. It's not magic. It's just that things get dirty. I don't know how it was stored and you can say whatever you want. The fact is, I cleaned it and the action improved dramatically. Maybe it was this bad the whole time you had it. Maybe you just don't know that these knives don't need to be that stiff. Who knows. What I know is that I fixed it. I sent you your knife on absolutely the soonest day that I could. I can't help that USPS delayed it a day. I'm not sure how you are so unwilling to see the simple fact that the action improved dramatically. It wasn't right. I fixed it. You might have thought it was OK but I didn't. When you get your brand new Military, I hope you post it on here to show that I'm honest and always hold up my end of a deal.

You weren't going to post it but hey someone else suggested it. Ah so it was out of your hands. You were simply forced to start this against your will. You aren't to blame for anything are you?

Tinker away manly men. But once you do, it is yours. This is a common sense business practice, internet or otherwise.

If the OP gets the knife he traded for(in described condition), and Blade Runner accepts that by opening the knife he bought it-regardless of a defect or not, you 2 should be done. There really isn't much to be gained arguing back and forth-nothing can be proved or disproved since the knife is no longer in the condition it was sent. You both have stated your cases.

Wait.....you hold “knife maker” status on this forum and you gain your knowledge about knives....on YouTube? I’ve read enough to make up my own mind.

Sorry you ran across this OP but on the bright side, I think BR7 will have even more time to workout now because his anodizing biz just got a little “slow”.

Not one bit of the condition of the knife matters once you take it apart. It is yours then. Holding your part of the trade while you disassemble and tinker with the knife and saying if you can fix it you will send your part of the trade, if not you will send it back is total bs. Stop trying to put this in anyway on the other guy. Apologize, stop typing, and move on. That is the only way you will save any of what reputation you have left.
I didn't actually hold it until I could fix it. The post office was closed. All I could do is try to fix it while I wait for the post office to open. I'm the only one here that has admitted any fault. What else do you want? See this is one of those black/white responses. What I have said here means nothing because you have already found me guilty. Do you think there is a chance he sent a faulty knife? Maybe even knowingly?

I don't claim to make knives. I just know how to anodize titanium. What's wrong with looking up suggestions on YouTube? Ive fixed a lot of things on my vehicles through YouTube videos. I wasn't actually searching YouTube anyway. Just googling how to fix a stiff action on OTF knives. A video was suggested. I'm not sure what's wrong with that? Looking for a solution. Isn't that where we all start nowadays? Internet search.

You said "I thought this was all over in the original thread and through my text to him that his knife was shipped on Tuesday. I guess he decided it was too much to deal with and had to post this all here to try and make me look bad (admittedly not hard to do here)." The "I guess he decided it was too much to deal with and had to post this all here" part was what i was in contention with. It was brought to my attention by a fellow member that it might do some good to let people know that you might play knife doctor in your trades.

I never said you held your end to see if you could fix it. I did say that you said that was what you were doing. That mentality alone is troubling in the least. And no, all you could do was put it back in the box and contact the other guy for a return.

What else do I want? I want you to stop making excuses, stop responding, and move along. That is the only thing you can do to help yourself at this point. With each response you are just digging deeper.

And again, does not matter if there was anything wrong with the knife. It is a moot point. Once you take it apart nothing about the condition matters.

bladerunner 7, youre making it worse not better each post youre doing blaming the op. in fairness after me thinking about it since the last thread.... the stiffer ones might not have felt stiff to the op at all. maybe he lifts everyday.:) just apologize and learn from the event and move on to the next deal. take that advice for what it is.........

some silly dirt got into the knife that both might be unaware of and now both of them are loosing their minds at eachother
Blade Runner crossed a line though and hopefully learned. The military is probably gonna be in a good shape and this story will have a happy ending.

And I have no reason to believe it wont come in bnib shape. I apologize if it came off as I thought otherwise.

Bottom line; If the trade is not to your satisfaction, re-pack and send back. But not before you communicate about the issue.

Fair?
