i have a customer realtions story - i retail production knives as a sideline [and to fund my habit.knife buying habit that is].last year i sold a CS Laredo bowie to a bowie fanatic.he returned it a few days after,due to a QC issue.i sent the blade to CS.there was a long delay[about 2 months] and then the customer called to tell me he received a replacement in the mail [i had included letters from the both of us with the return].i thought that was the end of that.a few days later i received a replacement as well.it seems we were compensated for the long delay as,when i emailed CS they had confirmed sending 2 knives.i'm not singing their praises or flaming them,just relating my experience

Why were you cutting "free hanging wire"? was it job related or were you doing a mini "proof" on your own? :)

Send in back with a short note in 2-3 weeks thay should send you a new one. They were real good about replacing my voyager after I beat the living hell out of it. (note: now that I am older and wiser I wouldn't have sent it back as it wasn't really damaged. I was just afraid I pushed the knife too far and my fellow Marine all damaged or destoryed their knives that day..)

I am sure it was Vg-1 because it is stamped on the blade. To answer your 3rd question the blade is plain edged. And to answer your 4th question I was cutting the wire because it was job related and I was also doing a mini "proof" just for fun.
 
FYI, the SRK is (or at least has been) issued to Seals coming out of BUD/S. You can watch a documentary from the Discovery channel and see it in use.

I was surprised to see this given how easily the steel rusts, but the knives are a great price, simple, and are respectably durable for what you get.
 
I cant freaking believe it. I used my tracking number and I found out that Cold Steel received my damaged knife on 6/5/06. Today is 6/28/06. So its been about 3 weeks and 3 days. What in the hell is taking so long?
 
I hate to say it, but that's not considered a long time for this kind of thing if it's a repair. Of course, I'd probably just replace the knife for you. There's a certain amount of pressure on them to do some repairs as you can't just replace every knife. But also, I haven't seen too many VG-1 knives lately, so they may have a supply problem.

This Monday will be a month since they received my damaged knife. Shoud I call them up and bitch at them? My dad said if I didn't he would for me.
 
Go for it but i doubt bitching at them will get the knife faster. If anything you would just piss them off and the wait would be longer.
